If you asked me to name my favorite book, movie or pizza topping, I could do it in a heartbeat. But choosing a favorite Room & Board product from our new 2014 collection? You may as well call it mission impossible. Luckily, our headquarters are filled with far more decisive people, so I asked three product-savvy folks to name their top picks from this year’s assortment.
For Upholstery Merchandise Manager Natalie, her favorite new product was easy: our Aidan chair. Natalie designed the chair after she was inspired by a tea set. “Aidan is fresh and modern,” Natalie said. “It provides a harmonious blend of beauty and comfort. I love the higher back design—you can rest your head in style!”
Natalie’s second favorite piece is the Camilla sofa. “This collection is about style without sacrificing comfort. Camilla’s design gives you cozy corners to curl up in, while the subtl e herringbone pattern is a gorgeous compliment to its classic styling.”
For her third pick, Natalie decided to take it outside and choose our Maya chair. “This piece is all about the details,” she said. “The contrast zig-zag stitching is a great way to bring attention to the soft lines of the frame. The oversized seat creates a great spot for you or a party of two. Plus, the flexibility of the collection allows you to push pieces together and create a sofa, sectional or use it as a stand-alone chair.”
Partial to those finishing touches, Jenon, the Accessories Merchandise Manager, chose our Hennepin Made silver pendants as a top favorite. “It’s impossible not to love these lamps,” she said. “While the design and quality are unique and modern, they fit any space. Plus, I love that Hennepin Made is right in our backyard—talk about buying local!”
Jenon’s runner up is our Gate rug. “The clean graphic pattern is timeless,” she told me. “I love how it’s woven into a traditional hand-knotted rug—it really works with any style of home.”
For Michael, the Casegoods Merchandise Manager, pieces with a story catch his eye. “I love the Allard table because of its character, history and heritage.”
“You can almost feel the generations of Allard men who tapped the trees for maple sap to make syrup. Owning a one-of-a-kind piece of history like this is really special.” Michael’s second favorite piece couldn’t be limited to just one, but rather an entire group: the Berkeley collection.
“Whether it’s a dresser, nightstand or console table, Berkeley offers a beautiful and flexible design. The craftsmanship of construction combined with the base design creates a piece of lasting appeal that can be passed down through generations.”
