Ever wonder how the products you see in magazines wind up on the page? There isn’t just one answer. Editors are exposed to and influenced by things in their personal lives. They are also pitched story ideas and new product offerings around the clock from individuals in the PR/marketing world. Working months in advance, they comb through the clutter and focus on delivering fresh content to not only inform, but also inspire their readers. This is particularly true when it comes to lifestyle, design and shelter publications.
At Room & Board, we make an effort to connect with the media in person at least once a year. This traditionally happens in January soon after our new collection is launched in stores and online. We invite editors from local publications into our showrooms for personal tours. It is a great opportunity to meet face-to-face, share what’s new with Room & Board and remind them that we’re here to help—whether it’s providing a photo for a product roundup or a piece of furniture or accessory for a photo shoot.
Our PR team recently ventured to New York for our annual trip. We had the pleasure of connecting with a long list of national publications from Elle Décor, Architectural Digest and Country Living to local New York magazines, including New York Spaces and New York Cottages & Gardens.
We love seeing the faces of editors we work with frequently, hearing what they are busy with, learning about trends in the marketplace and seeing which items in our assortment pique their interest. This year, we were particularly excited to introduce them to pieces that had a hidden and interesting backstory, were packed with personality and emphasized our American-made philosophy.
Curious which products caught their eye in 2014? Overwhelmingly, our new Aidan chair (featured on the cover of our 2014 catalog), Murphy sofa, Alma stool, Meyer bench, Madison table and Anywhere Armoires.
From newspapers and magazines to blogs, we’ve pulled together a collection of recent articles featuring Room & Board. Read what people are saying and what products are making headlines on our In the News page.
