Friday High Five: White House Style

Presidents Day weekend has us exploring spaces with a nod to the 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue homestead: houses decked out in white. We’ve gathered just what you need to start daydreaming about your three-day weekend with these light and airy escapes and inspirational white houses. A hue that looks at home on a beachy abode, atop green grass or surrounded by fresh fallen snow, we celebrate white houses as classics that are here to stay.

  • Classic white house inspiration. Check out this traditional home with a clean, updated feel. We love how the entirely white bathrooms give a fresh, clean aesthetic to echo the exterior of the home.
  • Brush up on Scandinavian design. Get lost in 60 white-out interiors, all featuring a touch of Scandinavian design. Fun fact: Did you know Scandinavians infuse white into their homes to enhance and make the most of natural light? With upwards of 60 Polar Nights (when the night lasts more than 24 hours) natural light can be hard to come by.
  • Escape to a dreamy space. Unsuspecting inspiration galleries? Airbnb! This dreamy white cottage home in Nashville is just a reservation away (and just the beginning of a long list of serene spaces to rent for a long weekend around the world.)
  • Three-day weekend white paint project. Who doesn’t love a before and after? Stylist Emily Henderson gave this living room an all-white makeover to freshen it up.
  • Work in white. White kitchens have found their place in the spotlight thanks to their bright, luxurious feels. From subway tile to marble or quartz countertops to unique pendant lighting, it seems there’s nothing white can’t tackle in a kitchen. Here’s a round-up of some of the best and brightest kitchens.
