Architecture

Strength and scale combine to create Architecture—a modern bed with a dramatic presence. Handmade from sturdy natural steel, it's a structure that will stand the test of time. Choose the Tall profile for greater clearance between the side rails and the floor.

This bed features a mattress platform made of steel slats, eliminating the need for a box spring or foundation. We recommend a mattress height of 13 inches or shorter to achieve the ideal bed proportions. Shop our mattresses for a perfect fit.

Customer comments about Architecture King Bed:

Really, a beautiful bed! Well made, and fits nicely with our bedroom, with high ceilings. The delivery team set it up easily, with little fuss. We have the bed in the natural steel. Any scratches or dings will just add to the patina.

      Service and delivery comments:

One of the best delivery experiences we've ever had! The two man team was prompt, took care not to damage anything, and put the furniture together carefully. They took off their shoes, every time they entered. Personable, answered questions. Again, great experience

Customer comments about Architecture Queen Standard Bed:

I like this bed so much, I blogged about it AND I bought the exact same bed twice.
              http://badmomgoodmom.blogspot.com/2006/10/most-beautiful-bed-in-whole-world.html

The bed is durable. It's just that I'm working in two states right now and was concerned about sleep disequilibrium. To minimize that, I purchased the exact same bed and mattress for the apartment.

Don't be afraid of the scale of the bed; it's perfect for small spaces. The 15" clearance between the floor and the bed creates a good-sized closet for small apartments. The canopy is perfect for hanging a curtain to block light--either from the sun or from another room occupant.

I'm a fan of the Bell steel beds. I purchased 2 for myself and one for my mom.

              Service and delivery comments:

The bed was ready in 4 weeks instead of 5 weeks. Hurray! The delivery guys arrived at the start of the delivery window and called to alert me when they were about 10 minutes away. They were professional and courteous. They even put booties on their shoes so that they didn't track dirt into the house.

Unfortunately, the footboard of the second bed was scratched. I'm awaiting delivery of a new footboard (another 5 wks).

Awesome looking bed. Sometimes the slats creek if I land in bed a little harder than normal. Everyone compliments it though, and I compliment it in my head everytime I walk in my room.

Customer comments about Architecture Full Standard Bed:

I am so bummed this bed frame wouldn't fit up my stairs. At a point in my stairs it is low and the 80" height wouldn't fit- I had measured that it is 81" from the lowest point, but I guess it needs more wiggle room than that. The bed is gorgeous though--wish it worked. Going to order the Parsons bed
                    in natural steel instead.

Customer comments about Architecture Queen Standard Bed:

I love this bed and am giving five stars, but that won't stop me from complaining about some minor problems. One is that the giant 2" steel top beams are connected to the head and footboards by a tiny 3mm-thick metal strip (see pic). It's probably still plenty strong for me to do pull-ups or even swing on it, but I think the gap is unsightly. And having such a clear weak point makes using the giant steel beams look silly. It'd be like connecting a heavy metal chain to an anchor with a plastic zip tie. Maybe they did this to prevent the beams from rubbing/squeaking, but I can think of better ways to do that. One other issue is that the headboard and footboard are giant pre-welded single pieces. I wish they used hidden screws so the bed could be disassembled for storage or for moving in a small truck or SUV.

Great bed. I love the simplicity but the stately impression of the natural steel. It adds a modern edge to the bedroom that plays well with the other elements. We ordered the tall version and its definitely a tall bed with my mattress and topper!
