Customer comments about Architecture Queen Standard Bed:

I like this bed so much, I blogged about it AND I bought the exact same bed twice.
          http://badmomgoodmom.blogspot.com/2006/10/most-beautiful-bed-in-whole-world.html

The bed is durable. It's just that I'm working in two states right now and was concerned about sleep disequilibrium. To minimize that, I purchased the exact same bed and mattress for the apartment.

Don't be afraid of the scale of the bed; it's perfect for small spaces. The 15" clearance between the floor and the bed creates a good-sized closet for small apartments. The canopy is perfect for hanging a curtain to block light--either from the sun or from another room occupant.

I'm a fan of the Bell steel beds. I purchased 2 for myself and one for my mom.

          Service and delivery comments:

The bed was ready in 4 weeks instead of 5 weeks. Hurray! The delivery guys arrived at the start of the delivery window and called to alert me when they were about 10 minutes away. They were professional and courteous. They even put booties on their shoes so that they didn't track dirt into the house.

Unfortunately, the footboard of the second bed was scratched. I'm awaiting delivery of a new footboard (another 5 wks).

I am so bummed this bed frame wouldn't fit up my stairs. At a point in my stairs it is low and the 80" height wouldn't fit- I had measured that it is 81" from the lowest point, but I guess it needs more wiggle room than that. The bed is gorgeous though--wish it worked. Going to order the Parsons bed
                in natural steel instead.

Customer comments about Architecture Queen Standard Bed:

I love this bed and am giving five stars, but that won't stop me from complaining about some minor problems. One is that the giant 2" steel top beams are connected to the head and footboards by a tiny 3mm-thick metal strip (see pic). It's probably still plenty strong for me to do pull-ups or even swing on it, but I think the gap is unsightly. And having such a clear weak point makes using the giant steel beams look silly. It'd be like connecting a heavy metal chain to an anchor with a plastic zip tie. Maybe they did this to prevent the beams from rubbing/squeaking, but I can think of better ways to do that. One other issue is that the headboard and footboard are giant pre-welded single pieces. I wish they used hidden screws so the bed could be disassembled for storage or for moving in a small truck or SUV.

Great bed. I love the simplicity but the stately impression of the natural steel. It adds a modern edge to the bedroom that plays well with the other elements. We ordered the tall version and its definitely a tall bed with my mattress and topper!

I saw this bed online and instantly liked it. Loved the idea of a canopy bed but in a more "form fits function" masculine style. We went with the Queen size high (vs. standard) and couldn't be happier. The standard was too low to the ground whereas the "high" is the perfect height given the two dressers we have on either side. We are both under 6ft so when we sit on the bed our feet barely touch the floor. It's solid (doesn't squeak or move at all). If you look closely you can seen the welding, which I particularly like. We have Euro-shams so the issue of not having a solid headboard isn't a problem for us. No box spring is needed as the mattress goes right on the metal slats of the bed.

Is it also an option to order this bed with two headboards? I'm considering placing the bed with the side against the wall and thought two headboards would give the effect of a day bed.

The top of the platform slats for the Architecture Queen Standard Bed, where the bottom of the mattress would set, is 12 ½” off the ground. The height to the top of the mattress would vary depending on the thickness of the mattress used.

Room & Board Bed Frames are designed for use with a mattress only. Adding a box spring would reduce the exposure of the headboard and raise the overall mattress height. The Architecture Bed is available only in the standard dimension, 40w 80d 76h with an under bed clearance of 9.5h. Color options are Natural Steel or powder-coated in White, Yellow, Blossom, Orange, Ocean, Red, Green, Silver and Navy.

The said rails are part of the overall construction and are needed to connect the head and footboards. The head and footboards are connected with the top crossbars and lower side-rails at assembly. There are also 12 individual platform slats that would support your mattress.

The top rail on the Architecture bed is part of the design as well as structural. With the height of the headboard & footboard, the top rails help keep the these parts stabilized.

The Architecture bed is welded steel and should be able to hold the extra weight without any worries. However, you may want to consider that adding a box spring will increase your overall height - our beds are designed for the height of a mattress only.
