Customer comments about Hoffman Queen Bed:

Very nice bed for the master bedroom. A bit larger than other RnB queen beds, due to the curved headboard and the padded rails on the sides and foot-end. Double-check the dimensions if your room is smaller. When leaning against the headboard you can feel some of the interior wood frame, so it's not as comfortable as it might be. Very sturdy with beefy square steel tubes used for the cross-rails supporting the mattress. RnB delivery crew handled the initial setup but I later moved it to a different room so I had the chance to take it apart and assemble again. Assembly was a bit of a pain. The cross-rails drop over screwheads and The screws were not quite consistent in spacing. So some rails were hard to put back into place.

        Service and delivery comments:

Prompt and good communications. Product arrived in good condition and the delivery crew assembled and positioned to my request. Professional and good-humored. The service and delivery operation is certainly an asset for Room and Board and the experience makes me more likely to order again in the future.

We decided it was time for a new bed. Practically agonized over the decision and saw tons on line and in stores. Finally went with this great bed from Room and Board. So glad we did. It's so perfect. Amazing construction, great design and fab material. Plus, Room and Board could not have better customer service. Really. If you like this bed, don't think about it another minute. Just buy it!

Customer comments about Hoffman Queen Bed:

I purchased this bed in 2010 in a green fabric that was then the primary stock fabric. I have no idea why it took nearly 4 years to review it, but thought I would on having been prompted to review some more recent purchases.

I loved the design of this bed from the first time seeing it in the store, and was growing tired of headboards that bolt to a metal generic bedframe, never stay tight and scratch the paint on the wall, and which are also not comfortable to "sit up" in. The bed matches my tastes perfectly and makes a great statement in the room. It is very comfortable to sit up against the headboard portion to read (or watch TV if you have one in your bedroom).

I highly recommend purchasing the "Platform Board" offered to accompany these beds, and which I did not realize existed until last year. It sits on top of the slats and makes for a flat surface beneath the mattress, making it infinitely easier to re-sheet your bed.

Customer comments about Hoffman California King Bed:

Our order was delayed a bit pending the arrival of our hoffman bed to Room and Board's warehouse. In other words it was fresh from the factory. The problem is you could smell it. I initially found the odor to be strong and repulsive (although my wife couldn't smell it). We've now had it for a month, and thankfully I can only detect a very faint odor now. Luckily we have been out of town a lot and had nice weather so I was able to open the windows often.

Otherwise, we love the look, design, and sturdiness of the bed. It is comfortable to read in.

Have searched for a long time for the "perfect" Cal King bed. Love the slight slant of the headboard, makes for comfortable reading and the padded bed frame has no sharp corners.

                Service and delivery comments:

Delivery process was one of the best I have experienced. The warehouse called to confirm a date, and then again to provide a specific delivery window. Delivery people were great, put on booties upon entry, assembled everything and made sure that we were happy with placement in the room.

Customer comments about Hoffman Queen Bed:

The bed is not constructed well. It's a poor design having removable legs at the 4 corners of the bed. For stability there should be another leg in the middle of the frame. This would prevent the legs from coming loose so easily and wobbling. I would not buy this bed again.

Customer comments about Hoffman Queen Bed:

This bed is perfect in my opinion. Gracious design that has presence in the room, but isn't screaming a 'statement'. My entire room looks more polished now. Couple of things I didn't realize when ordering: the side rails come out a bit from the mattress, almost like a small step. I think this is a nice design feature. The headboard is angled like a modified sleigh bed - I expected it to be straight to the wall in the back, and just angled on the one side facing the mattress. This is also a nice design feature, but will extend the bed a few inches further into the room. And lastly, the steel bars supporting the bed are incredibly strong - so much so that my mattress now feels firmer since there is zero bowing, as was the case with the wooden slats on my previous bed. I'll also mention, i custom orded it in a micro velvet fabric, which gives it a softer look and feel, and is lovely. This is such a perfect piece, I couldn't be more pleased!

                    Service and delivery comments:

Excellent delivery. On time, the men were careful in my space, careful with assembly, helped me move other things out of the way, professional, prompt and pleasant.

It is certainly an option to use a box spring with any of our beds. It’s not necessary, however, as all of our beds have a system of steel slats to support the mattress. Aesthetically, we would advise against a box spring on any of our beds, as it lifts the mattress significantly higher than designed, resulting in the headboard/footboard being covered/concealed.

On the Hoffman bed, the measurement from the floor up to the bottom of the mattress is 10 inches. So, the top of your mattress would be 23” high. Without pillows, the amount of exposed headboard would be 17 inches.

                      Q:

What would be the height from the floor to the top of a 10in thick mattress (full size bed frame) I have a custom bed spread that I need to make sure will fit a new bed without a box spring.

                      thanks

The mattress sits 10" off the floor, so the top of a 10" mattress on this bed will be 20" from the floor.

                      Q:

Is a bunkie board (or similar support structure) suggested if using a memory foam mattress? If the measurement from the baseboard (where the mattress sits) to the top of the headboard is 30 inches and the typical mattress 8 inches - would an additional 2-3 inches bunkie board be too high/tall?

                        A:

Not all memory foam mattress manufactures have the same recommendations or requirements. Our Memory Foam Mattress does not require the use of bunkie or platform boards. The platform slats of the Hoffman Bed sit 10” from the ground. This bed was designed with our mattress depths, ranging between 10” and 13”, in mind.

What is the approximate height from an average thickness mattress (say 8" height) to the top of the headboard? Would dressing a king-sized bed with european shams (26x26inches) overwhelm the look? Thank you

The measurement from the slats where the mattress sits to the top of the Hoffman headboard measures 30 inches. With an eight inch mattress, there would be 22 inches of exposed headboard. Euro style shams at an angle will still leave the headboard exposed at the top.

The leg color on the stocked Hoffman bed is called Cognac, and is a dark brown with a red undertone which you'll see most clearly in direct sunlight. You can request a photo swatch of this and other custom leg colors by calling one of our Design Associates at 800-301-9720.

The Hoffman bed is delivered unassembled and will be assembled by our delivery drivers in your home. The headboard and footboard are connected by removable side rails. The mattress is supported by a series of 12 metal slats that are also removable. No, we do not offer a headboard only option, because other bedframes will not work with our headboards. The type of hardware and the height at which it's positioned is unique to our beds.

Our beds are designed for the height of a mattress only, so adding a mattress under the box spring will hide most of the headboard and make the overall height too tall.
