Customer comments about Hudson Queen Storage Bed:

i read buyer comments before I purchased this bed and heard about the squeaking, but I only heard it once, when I first got it. i also read about someone who could not open the storage drawer even though he bought the end tables designed to permit just that. i have no problem opening the drawers. there is a slight disconnect between the size of the platform and the queen mattress, but maybe if my bedding was fluffier, i would be happy for the extra room. storage drawers are little less spacious than I had hoped, but i really love the design, the look, the craftsmanship, and am very happy with the purchase -- a good thing indeed, because i did think it was a bit pricey.

Customer comments about Hudson Queen Storage Bed:

Drawers look large and from outside would appear to hold a lot, but drawers upon opening are very shallow. Disappointing/inefficient use of space given how large and high front panel of drawers are... Unclear as to why manufacturer selected such low side panels for drawer. Hopefully upgraded drawers in the works in newer versions because love everything else about this model bed.

Customer comments about Hudson Queen Storage Bed:

I live in a one bedroom condo. My storage space is somewhat limited, and like most people I have way too much useless stuff. The drawers in the bed are quite wide, so make sure to use two hands when opening them. They work perfect for storing seasonal items and sweaters. The bed has a very sturdy frame and does not move when getting in or out of the bed.

This was the 1st of many of our Room and Board purchases for our beach condo - we couldn't be happier. The storage drawers are big and the bed, bench and "c" tables make our bedroom perfection.

Customer comments about Hudson Queen Storage Bed:

This is our primary bed. It looks great and the drawers add a significant amount of storage. We have the maple wood & are very pleased with the color & quality of the materials used. Overall, we really like it!

The primary con would be that the mattress (which we also ordered from R&B) does not fit the platform. It is slightly too small. We pushed the mattress to one side so you don't notice it from the other side side, but the bed frame is about two inches too wide & two inches too long. Additionally, the squared off corners of the bed frame do not fit the mattress. If you push the mattress as far as it will go in to the corner, there is still exposed platform. As we don't have bed covers that go over the sides of the mattress (like in the photo), the fact that the mattress does not fit well, is quite noticeable.

I don't know if other mattresses would fit better, but it seems odd that the R&B mattress does not correctly fit an R&B bed. When the mattress is due to be changed, we will look elsewhere for a mattress that fits the frame better.

Other people complained of squeaking, but we have not heard any noises.

After more than 30 years in our house we moved to a 3 bedroom coop. Good size but can't compare to a house. Storage is a real issue and this bed was selected to help with our new storage needs. Works very well. Our bedside tables are light weight so moving them to acess the drawers by the head of the bed will not be an issue.

Customer comments about Hudson Queen Storage Bed:

The bed is great and is exactly what I am looking for. My mattress does not fill out the space completely. Most of these beds will be a problem for my mattress. I have been told by sales associates for similar storage beds that I would need to fluff up my mattress with bedding. I find that I have to tuck in my blankets -- even the down comfortor -- to hide the top of the bed. It is helpful to do this (ie make your bed) in order to avoid having your bedding get stuck in the drawers when they open and close.

It is true that you cannot use traditional night stands with this bed and open the drawers at the same time. I keep a small distance between my one night stand and one drawer and also put least used items in that drawer. So it has not been a problem for me.

If I ever move, I will probably update my review to let you know if it was a pain in the butt to take apart and reassemble.

                Service and delivery comments:

I was not here for the delivery and assembly. My irresponsible brother was. He never mentioned anything was wrong with my bed. When I began using it, I noticed that two of the drawers did not slide open smoothly, but have experienced that with many drawers in my past and thought nothing of it. A few days after assembly, I get an email from R&B to let me know my delivery was less than perfect and they are sending a repair person to investigate and repair! Unbelieveable! I never had to say a word (and trust me, neither did my brother). That is incredible customer service and put faith in this store (that I bought purely by finding it online -- never saw the product in person).

On top of that, it was great to meet a furniture repair person who had nothing but compliments for the bed and its solid construction. Made me feel good about the purchase. He is a local guy who has never heard of R&B (we're in Houston, TX). In addition, he said he can always match the wood stain (he custom mixes) should I have any issues. Great to have a local person in your phone book that you didn't have to research yourself.

The Hudson Storage bed is sitting atop a case piece that holds the storage drawers, so the entire bed is supported from underneath, not just the sides and center. It will easily accommodate a mattress warranty that requires a center support.

The interior dimensions of the Hudson Queen Storage bed frame are 60.5 x 81. The standard Queen mattress is 60 x 80, so there is not much room between the edge of the mattress and the frame. However, our Platform Board may be placed over the slats to prevent them from showing and provide a clean, tailored appearance.

                    Q:

I am trying to get a sense of height to floor measurement with a 10 inch mattress. Does the mattress sit flat on the platform slats making the measurement 24 inches or does the mattress sit lower on the slats potentially making height measurement less than 24 inches.

Clearly, I am challenged w some some space issues so inches counting right now. Thanks

With our Hudson Storage Bed, the bottom of a mattress would sit 12 ¼” off the ground.

The Hudson collection has a lacquer finish which is easily maintained and protected with citrus oil as part of the regular care of your piece. While we don’t specifically test our furniture in coastal air, most of the pieces from our collection have seen many years of life in homes by the water, and the Hudson bed should fare beautifully for you.

                      A:

The Hudson Storage Bed, like the other beds in our collection provide more than enough support for a memory foam mattress. You may want to use a platform board if you are concerned about preserving another retailer's warranty.
