Looks great!

By JJF

from Seattle, WA

Style Eclectic, Mid-century modern, Vintage

Pros

  • Durable
  • Great design
  • No box spring needed
  • Quality construction

Cons

  • Doesn't fit mattress

Best Uses

  • Primary Bed

Customer comments about Melbourne Queen Bed:

The bed is so handsome, the quality great. I'm lucky to have a huge bedroom with which I could easily add more seating. So I ordered a Metro sectional and took the chance in simply matching the sofa fabric to the bed. The end result is sophisticated and really comfy.

Service and delivery comments:

Delivery was awesome. I've had multiple deliveries and they were terrific. Timely, considerate and careful. They placed everything exactly where I wanted it to go, even felt padded the things that sat on my new wood floor to avoid scratching.

I just wish I didn't have to wait so long to get what I ordered! Not a fault of Room and Board, this was all special order, and there were some issues with fabric not being in stock at manufacturers and long process of shipping, etc.

      Q:

What is the wood used? Are there night tables that match the stain (even if from a different line of furniture)?

        A:

The wood frame of our Melbourne Bed is Maple with a Mocha Stain. Both our Bennett and Calvin collections would coordinate well.

      Q:

Would it be possible to use a box spring and a mattress? If not, how comfortable is the bed without a box spring?
Asked on 4/16/2014 by Tina from Boston,MA

      1 answer

      • DESIGN ASSOCIATE

        A:

While the bed could certainly support a box spring, it is designed to be used with one and visually the combination wouldn’t look quite right. The bottom of your mattress is designed to rest 16” from the floor on this bed. The top of the footboard is 27” off the floor and the top of the headboard 46”. Ideally, you would use only a mattress, ranging from between 10-13” high. You should not notice any difference in how your mattress feels without the box spring. The mattress rests on natural steel slats which in most cases are stronger than any box spring.
