Customer comments about Heartwood Queen Bed:

Where to start? This bed is truly gorgeous and reflects the skilled carpentry and craftsmanship that went into making it a custom piece. The cherry wood is stunning and further enhanced by the simple oil rubbed finish that draws out the grain while protecting the wood. We went with this bed over the Sherwood even though our other bedroom furniture is from the Sherwood collection in cherry. We took a chance that the styles would go together and they did. The under bed height is great for storage and cleaning. Not having a box spring keeps the mattress from being too high. One note is the wood does need periodic treatment with "Danish" oil to prevent drying out. Vermont Heartwood says to do this within a month or so after receiving it and then about once a year after that. This is also true of the Sherwood dressers we have as well. It really brings out the grain and deep color of the cherry while preventing checking/drying out. It's really a small amount of effort to ensure performance and protect our investment for years to come.

Customer comments about Heartwood Full Bed:

This looked great on line, but the actual product far exceeded the on-screen image. There are no identifiable flaws. I'm very impressed with this company.

        Service and delivery comments:

The delivery staff were great; polite, on time, and highly professional, as they unpacked and set up the bed for me. Customer service was helpful working with me, as I needed to schedule the delivery in a fairly narrow time window.

The color of the wood is beautiful and the natural wood grain is also very nice. This bed is a treat to fall into at night. It fits in very nicely with my Arts & Crafts decor.

          • Heartwood Queen Bed

            Q:

I'm concerned about getting a mattress to fit this bed. My plan is to buy a mattress from Sears or another company where I have gotten good mattresses in the past. I need to know that Room and Board beds are standard sizes and that I can buy a mattress somewhere else, and that the Queen Mattress will fit. The dimensions listed for queen mattresses are all over the map -- 61 x 85, 65 x 83, 64 x 84, so I assume these are exterior measurements. I need to know that the interior measurement will fit a standard queen sized mattress. My brother bought a queen bed at Room and Board and a mattress from Sears and they did not fit.

Does the queen-sized bed have a center leg support, or is it just the 4 posts?

          • Heartwood Queen Bed

            Q:

Does this bed come broken down to be assembled at delivery, or is it delivered complete (as I'm guessing due to mention of mortise & tenon joinery)?

I'm trying to figure out if we can get it up the stairs into the bedroom it will go in. If I only have to deal with the longest dimension that's an easier fit than fitting the length x width as a fully assembled piece.

            Thanks.

              A:

The Heartwood bed is assembled in your home at delivery. The side rails attach to the headboard and footboard with hidden interlocking keyhole hardware. The 54"h headboard is the largest piece.
