Great bench for seating at a table, or as a piece for extra seating or an accent. We keep it in a bay window and use it for all of the above. Nice and wide bench (wider than expected).

Customer comments about Jansen 22x16 17h Bench:

A very nice looking and practical piece. The stool is light weight but very sturdy. I use it mainly next to my front door as a place to put on and take off shoes as well as setting down bags and stuff. But I've already used it as an ottoman (just the right height and fairly comfortable for not being padded) and side table.

It is also not as "sided" as in the pic. It is much closer to being symmetrical than I thought it would be, at least the one I was sent is.

Only minor complaint is that the cherry wood will take some time to develop that reddish/orangish patina. The color is much lighter compared to the pic on the web. I know that will deepen with age, I have other cherry pieces that started the same way.

              Service and delivery comments:

excellent and affordable delivery via UPS, since the piece was small enough. Arrived in excellent condition, only one felt pad was out of place. I ordered by phone and was treated very well.

Customer comments about Jansen 22x16 17h Bench:

I initially didn't like the design. I thought the seat was too large. But when I sat in it I realized it was perfect for seating at a work station or dining room table (in a pinch when you need an extra seat). Because the seat is wide, it's very comfortable when you are sitting for long periods of time. You can move around on this stool. I love my stool.

Adding a bench to the hall gives the hall a finished look. We use it as a place to put items to take upstairs, and to sit while putting on shoes. Our grandchildren put their shoes under the bench when they visit instead of leaving them helter skelter in the hall. We have a few decorative items at the far end to give it a more polished look. More useful than a console.

Customer comments about Jansen 22x16 17h Bench:

For years, I wanted a Hans Wegner cord-wrapped seat bench that Room and Board stocked but the price was a bit too steep for me. The concern was that cord seat could be difficult to clean.

Then I saw this on the showroom floor (and it appears the Wegner bench/footstool similar in size is not in stock now). I like that it can be wiped, it has a beautiful surface, it's made in the USA, and it fits in different places either as a footstool or as a bench or as an occasional table.

Multi function furniture. That's awesome sauce. At first I thought this is an extravagance but it's turned out to be practical, well made, and probably going to be kept in my household through my family for a long time.An heirloom in the making.

                            Q:

Are the Jansen benches tall enough to be placed at the dinner table, along-side the Jansen dining chairs, and if so, do you make custom leather pads for Jansen benches, like you do for the Jansen chairs?

                              A:

You may use the bench as a dining bench, but it is one inch shorter than the seat of the Jansen chair. Currently, there is not a leather pad available for the bench.

Hello! Is the bench flat on top, so that you could stack books or plants or flowers in vases on it and not have them tip over? It looks like it might be more rounded or tapered, but I can't tell for sure.
