Customer comments about Andover 78x38 Extension Table:

I purchased this table in the walnut finish and although it is beautiful, it not only scratches and dents very easily, it show these imperfections. I don't mind wood that shows normal wear and tear, but this is ridiculous. It was so bad, I even bought a custom glass top, which I do not like the look or style. I also don't like the look of tablecloths, runners, placemats, or coasters on a table. I think this is why my origional review was removed from the website. I have a parsons desk that is used far more and it is beautiful and useful and the wood looks great (butcher block cherry). If you are looking for a high maintenance table, then this is the one. The majority of my house is R&B and this is the only purchase that I have been disappointed with.

Nice looking but finish not durable

By Bay Area Peninsula Guy

from Belmont, CA

Pros

  • Great Design
  • Quality construction

Cons

  • Poor finish

Best Uses

Customer comments about Andover 78x38 Extension Table:

I have had this table for about two years and am very gentle on my furniture. I bought the charcoal stain finish and was expecting the lacquer finish to be more durable. As other reviewers have noted this finish is NOT durable. It shows marks WAY too easily and I expect the dark finish makes this worse. I wish I had purchased a different table.

I have a LOT of other R&B furniture in my house and this is the first time I have been disappointed. Before buying other pieces I will make a point of reading reviews.

I love this table. Clean lines and quality construction. I bought the shell covered maple and I love the color. It works with my modern furnishing. I have not had any trouble with the table's finish although I have only had a the table for a short time.

Customer comments about Andover 78x38 Extension Table:

We bought this table in the Charcoal stain and absolutely loved the way it looks. The lines are simple and beautiful with a good solid wood feel. Unfortunately the finish marks up so easily! We've only used this table for 4 meals and there are scuff marks all over the top. In the future I'll use a table cloth which is not really my style but I'd like to somehow preserve the table rather than refinish/replace it so soon.

Customer comments about Room & Board Andover 78x38 Extension Table:

I live in a 3 story townhouse. The main floor is kitchen/dining/living room. I previously had an oval table in the space, and it wasn't functional at all. Since most of my side tables are parsons style and metal with glass, I went in looking for that similar style. [@], the sales person, talked me into the wood, in the same styling with clean parsons lines. Am I glad he didn! It's perfect in the small space, there is a leaf to add 18 more inches, and the walnut could not be more beautiful! It works as a work space everyday, then for a few guests as is. When the extended family comes over, it is 78" and seats 8. Love this table!!!!!

I permanently stained the table top using only a soft lint free cloth to wipe the table!!! How can that happen? Now I have to refinish the table top because it looks terrible under any light.

Customer comments about Andover 78x38 Extension Table:

I love this table. I used to have the Parson Table with French Limestone top. I love the wood finish - very solid, sturdy and beautiful. I've gotten lots of compliments from my friends. However, I've noticed that oil or grease stains are a bit difficult to clean. I've been using warm water with soft cloth to clean. Should I be using something else?
Also, one of my guests accidentally scratched the top by dragging a mug without using a coaster. Is there any way I can fix this?
          Thanks!!

          Service and delivery comments:

Delivery and set up was impeccable as always for Room and Board. Always on time and very polite and curtious staff! The best delivery staff by far!!! They were mindful that my 1 1/2 year old daughter was sleeping and they were very quiet.
