Introduced in 1946, this bench remains a beautiful, functional combination of a wood platform and chrome-plated legs.  Try it at the end of your bed, as a cocktail table or in your entryway. Its simplicity will never go out of style.

Customer comments about Nelson (TM) 48x18 Platform Bench w/Chrome Metal Base in Maple by Herman Miller®:

Have always wanted this bench. It is beautiful whether you use it to hold blankets books, luggage, or even nothing at all. Light and airy modern design. We chose the metal legs because our house has wood floors and walls and it makes an elegant contrast. We chose the 48" length so we have flexibility to use this in many ways in the future.

Has anyone used this as a coffee table? How does it stand up with the slats when it comes to placing glasses/mugs on it?

As with any of our wood tables, we would recommend using coasters to protect the wood. If the spacing of the slats is a concern, you could put a tray on the table.
