    • Material Description: Cherry adds timeless warmth and character to your room. Even after cherry is harvested and made into furniture, it continues to be a living, breathing material that responds to its environment - it expands and contracts with changes in humidity and also changes color over time as it's exposed to air, sunlight and wear. New cherry ranges in color from light brown with pink undertones to reddish brown and will beautifully darken to a deep, reddish brown over time.

    • Material Description: Our stainless steel is domestically sourced from 60% recycled material. It is highly resistant to corrosion and has a brushed texture to ensure wear marks will blend in over time.

COPENHAGEN CONSTRUCTION DETAILS

Learn how every part of our American-made Copenhagen collection is created, from the materials and hardware to construction methods and finish details.
Benchmade Construction

Benchmade Construction

Each Copenhagen piece is constructed one at a time by an expert artisan. The entire case is reinforced with time-tested joinery, built and assembled by hand and then hand sanded and finished before it comes to you as a fully assembled piece. Our commitment to benchmade construction ensures you receive furniture that's built to last a lifetime.

Wood Veneer

Wood Veneer

Copenhagen is made entirely of wood veneer. Two different types of wood veneer are used: solid wood veneer for natural woods and wood fiber veneer for white and ebony. Solid wood veneer is created by adhering a thin layer of solid wood to premium grade particle board. Wood fiber veneer employs the same process, but the solid wood is replaced by a thin sheet of recycled wood fibers. Wood fiber veneer’s grain-free surface is specifically designed to be painted.

Wood veneer increases the structural integrity of a piece because it does not expand and contract with seasonal humidity changes like solid wood. Our high quality wood veneers are CARB 2 compliant for low emissions.

Finish

Finish

A low-sheen lacquer is hand applied to all Copenhagen pieces to seal and protect the surface of the wood veneer. Craftsmen carefully inspect for drips and even application. Solid colors are achieved by adding pigment to the lacquer.

Exterior back panels are left unfinished. You can customize Copenhagen to include a finished back for an additional cost.

Drawers and Glides

Drawers and Glides

Drawer fronts are wood veneer and each is perfectly aligned within the frame. The drawer boxes have Baltic birch plywood sides connected with dovetail joinery and a wood veneer bottom. Full-extension ball-bearing glides allow you to see the entire drawer when fully open and glide smoothly even when the drawer is filled to its 100-pound capacity. Drawer interiors are hand sanded and sealed with lacquer for a smooth, snag-free finish.

Doors, Shelves and Hardware

Doors, Shelves and Hardware

All doors are wood veneer and precisely inset within the frame. Concealed, fully adjustable hinges open 120 degrees and give you the option to adjust the door alignment for perfect functionality through years of use. Interior latches keep doors securely closed. Wood veneer shelves rest on adjustable steel pins. Optional swiveling locking casters are suitable for hardwood or carpet. We designed the aluminum slab pulls and steel bases exclusively for this collection.

Very solid, durable bed frame. Love the simplicity. Because the frame, except for the pretty headboard, is steel, there is little care involved.

I am very happy with this purchase. I did a lot of research. I wanted something that was simple in design, but with a wood grain that would give it an organic look. This fits the bill.

    Service and delivery comments:

Delivery was late, but they let me know ahead of time that they would be late. They were super friendly, fast and efficient. And they cleaned up after themselves!

Customer comments about Copenhagen King Bed:

We got the Copenhagen bed in white. I took a long time deciding on what bed would look best in our medium-small bedroom. The bed looks terrific and was the best choice. It is firm, comfortable, no squeaks or problems at all. The shiney metal legs are attractive and with the low white headboard, the bed is pure, simple, and beautiful. We both could not be happier with our choice. Do carefully measure to make sure it is the 'look' you would want. The headboard is non-adjustable.

        Service and delivery comments:

Perfect delivery and white glove service. Courteous, competent delivery men did a superior job. the swept up after themselves and wiped off the bed surfaces before leaving. Excellent!

Bed frame broke after sleeping on it for 2 months. Bar supporting slats on left side is sitting on wood blocks and headboard is no longer attached. I would expect a product of this price range to not fall apart so quickly.

great bed, lower than I thought it would be, but not as low as other platform-type beds I looked at.

beautifully made; have the dark metal base and dark headboard. may show scratches over time, but so far (one month or so) has held up well.

Customer comments about Copenhagen Queen Bed:

Nice looking bed - exactly what we wanted. Is longer than most queen mattresses therefore there are 2-3 extra inches at the head or foot of the bed. Is a bit awkward. Not sure why they couldn't make it the right size. Especially as it's pricey.
                Overall happy with it.

Customer comments about Copenhagen King Bed:

The Copenhagen line in Cherry is the perfect complement to the wood floors in our midcentury modern home. I love the look of the bed but as others have noted when placed on a wood floor the plastic pieces on the bottom of the legs make the bed squeak and crack a great deal. We solved this by putting rubber protectors under the feet. It works but ruins the clean line of the legs. Given the number of wood floors out there and the easy fix you'd think R&B would offer the same option. Also, the frame has no lip or edge to hold the mattress in place so if you want to sit up in bed and read the mattress will slide somewhat. I was told R&B mattresses are made not to slide on the metal slats but not all of us cn afford a new mattress with our new bedroom furniture.

Those two issues aside, we love the look of the bed and the quality so far is what I expect from R&B.

                Service and delivery comments:

Everything about the service was exemplary. Nice, friendly, efficient guys who had no problems manuevering the furniture into our bedroom.
