Customer comments about Ella Queen Bed:

I love this bed, looks great and very comfortable. Very sturdy, you need a strong person to help you move it for cleaning! Quality is excellent. I need to make a cover for the top as my cats have shown an interest in stropping their claws on the edge. Fabric is strong and tightly woven so it will last a long time. Nothing bad to say about this purchase.

    Service and delivery comments:

Your delivery drivers are fantastic, neat and tidy, professional, pleasant and cooperative. It was a super hot day when the bed was delivered, both the driver and helper got on with the job, all smiles and never a complaint. When they left I offered them bottles of iced water for their efforts.

We looked for 6 months to find something that would be of quality construction and fit our taste. We thought of Room & Board but assumed it was WAY out of our price range. We were so wrong! When we visited the store, we were pleasantly surprised and excited. Our salesman was extremely helpful. We didn't have to wait long to get it delivered (a few days) and the guys that set up the bed were extremely professional. We will definitley buy again from Room & Board.

great bed with a couple of issues...

Customer comments about Ella King Bed:

We love this bed but I have to comment on a couple of issues that I have; firstly I cannot count the number of times that I have "barked "my shins on the corners of the bed frame at night ... ouch!

The other problem is a quality/manufacturing issue. The design of the bed is such that the mattress rests on a set of slats that run across the bed. These slats are supported on either side by a piece of wood that is screwed onto the inside of the bed frame. In my opinion this piece of wood should be doweled and glued to the bed frame and not screwed in as the screws have sheared and pulled out as well.

This is *not* a quality piece of work that will last.

Its a great solid bed. It is hard to make due the mattress fitting down inside the bed frame and my mattress does not cover the edges even tho its a queen bed. So the frame is little bit bigger than my mattress. Other than that its worth the price and is a great addition!

Great bed, but there is some space b/w the mattress and the base - it doesn't bother me too much, but almost has the look of a fold-out, when you look by the base - toward the headboard. Also, needs to be vacuumed frequently, but that's probably the case with most upholstered beds. Regardless, so far, we love it.

The Ella full bed takes a full-sized mattress measuring 54 x 75 inches. A queen mattress (approximately 60 x 80) would not fit in the full frame.

Even though the Ella bed is designed for no box spring can a box spring still be added if one desires at later date after purchase?

                A:

While the Ella bed could certainly support a box spring in addition to a mattress, visually it is likely that it wouldn’t look “right.” For instance, it is 11” from the floor to the bottom of where your mattress will rest on the Ella bed. The very top of the headboard is 46” from the floor.

              • Employee Review

                A:

The Ella bed is designed for the height of a mattress only. The slats are set just inside the upholstered frame, so most of your box spring would be visible. With the addition of your mattress the overall height would likely be too tall. Most standard mattresses can be placed directly on the slats. If you have an all foam mattress that requires a solid foundation, consider using a Platform Board in place of your box spring: http://www.roomandboard.com/rnb/product/detail.do?productGroup=5061&catalog=room&category=rm_bedrooms&subcategory=mattress

We've had an Ella bed for about one month, using the same mattress we had on our old (but very comfortable) bed. I am finding the Ella bed/slats quite a bit firmer than the old bed. Do you have any suggestions for how to make it softer? We'd like to avoid buying a new mattress.

A slat support system may cause your mattress to feel more firm. Adding a mattress topper is an easy way to add more comfort to your mattress. We also offer feather beds in our bedding collection.

              Q:

Several comments on the Ella bed suggest that the bed is too long for the mattress (and by looking at the dimensions of the Cal King bed- 93" long for an 84" long mattress, it seems they are correct). Is this a style decision? Why is the bed frame so much longer than the mattress that "fits" it? I love the look of the Ella bed but am hesitant to buy it based on those comments. Thanks.

                A:

Yes our California king mattress is 84" in length and the platform that supports the mattress is 84.75x72.5 so a pretty good fit. 93" length is the overall length of the Ella bed from the back of the headboard to the end of the footboard. Let us know if you have more questions.
