Customer comments about Piper Twin Bed:

We just ordered our second and third Piper Bed in steel for our twins as our 4 year old has had one for 2 years. I'm slightly disappointed to find that the frame design has been altered; the former was thicker (3" wide) and the current model is only 2" wide. We preferred the former model's "weight" from an aesthetic standpoint.

Luckily the three beds are not sharing the same room (or the three siblings!).

However, the bed is still well made - the steel is indestructable, it's very easy to assemble, it's heavy, and nothing my 3 year old twins can do could possibly break it. They will last a lifetime.

I did buy the wooden platform to go on the slats because I like the bed linens to tuck perfectly and not see them hanging down below the bed.

        Service and delivery comments:

The service was seamless, perfect as always.

This is our third R&B delivery and I am always amazed by this part of things.

Love this bed! It looks great and is very well made. its super easy to assemble! My only complaint is that my pillows fall through the headboard almost instantly. It's not the most comfortable to sit and read a book. But hey... it sure looks great!

Customer comments about Piper Queen Bed:

Shopped around for a modern bed with clean lines, & that's well made. I kept coming back to this one. I love the natural steel & the various deep tones it has depending on the light -- so much more interesting than other beds I saw with a powder coat finish. It's my primary bed in my apartment. Good floor clearance that I can slide storage containers underneath.

          Service and delivery comments:

Got a reminder email to schedule the delivery and it was a breeze. Love having a 2 hour delivery window so I'm not waiting around all day. They guys were friendly & careful. They even asked if it was OK to wear sneakers in the house. Bed was assembled within minutes they checked with me to make sure its orientation in the room is how I wanted.

Customer comments about Piper Queen Bed:

I rarely write a review especially since I haven't had a proper chance to actually sleep on this frame yet. The frame was delivered to my house professionally with my instruction to not assemble. It was smooth and headache free.

I'm a union metal worker so after initial inspection I was very pleased at the work and materials that went into fabricating this.

Cutting to the chase, It really is a great bed and I'm shocked that it took this long for someone to offer such a simplistic and beutifully crafted bedframe. As a perfectionist, I do have one minor gripe that I don't believe should sway anyone from actually purchasing the bed. For the price and attention to detail it would have been the icing on the cake if they would have capped the steel rectangular tubing that is used for the mattress support slats. I'm a bit of a neat freak, having those slats capped would keep them dust and debris free, cover any sharp edges left and me sleeping just that little bit better. For any other fans of this frame who might also be as ridiculously critical about these things, you can easily find good plastic end caps fairly cheap. With 12 slats on this model frame you would need 24 end caps similar to the ones used for the feet of the frame.

Really, this isn't an oversight or anything to warrant one less star in the rating and to be fair I would gladly offer up 4.5 stars if I was able. It simply would have been awesome to not have to buy those caps.

Regarding the bed, I LOVE IT! It's firm! It doesn't take up too much space. And though made of metal, it has an elegance to it.

Customer comments about Piper Queen Bed:

I bought two of the king Piper bed frames and made our primary bedroom and guest room interchangeable. The bed is terrific. The design is simple, elegant, timeless. I have allergies and chose this bed for the design - no box spring, good clearance from floor, feet have felt pads so easy to slide on wood floors - it'll be easy to keep the bedroom dust-free. The frame is sturdy, no squeaks or wobbles, and I swear the metal slats make our old mattress even more comfortable to sleep on. It's easy to make this bed, just tuck the sheet and blankets up at the foot and leave the sides loose. Very happy with this purchase.

                    Service and delivery comments:

Our first delivery date was cancelled the night before, and the order was incomplete when they arrived the next week, so it did take three weeks to get everything here. But, customer service did communicate everything to me about the delays and the delivery team was very nice, professional, and fast at the set up. And now that everything is here, I couldn't be happier.

The Natural Steel bed is black from oxidation during the production process. It has variation in color, including possible bluing at the weld marks. In addition, it has a matte finish. The powdercoated frames are uniform in color and have a slight sheen.

The bottom of the mattress will sit 12" off of the floor, and the footboard is 20" high, so your mattress will be a few inches higher than the footboard.

We call it the kids' bed only because Twin and Full sizes tend to be used more in children's room than in adults' rooms. It is a wonderful choice for a guest bedroom and will accommodate everyone.

No. The Parsons standard height bed has a headboard that is 43”h and footboard that is 23”h. The Piper headboard is 36”h, and the footboard is 20”h.

The Perspective Bed was made with 3" square natural steel tubing. This Piper Bed is made with 2" square natural steel tubing.

How many inches tall is the steel in the frame. The one I purchased in 2010 was 3 inches - want to confirm that is still the dimension.

The space in between the steel bars of the headboard is open space. There are not any fillers in between.

I know a box spring is not required with this bed, but is it possible to use one? If not, do you have other steel beds that can work with a box spring?

                          A:

All Room & Board beds are designed to accommodate a mattress only, creating a clean, modern look. Adding a box spring would make the overall height too tall and cover most of the headboard. The steel slat support system eliminates the need for a separate box spring foundation. I have a difficult stairwell for deliveries. Do the side rails come as separate parts to assemble? I just need to make sure that the side rails do not arrive attached to the headboard and footboard but are actually attached and assembled on site.

Yes, the side rails are separate pieces and will be attached to the headboard and footboard once in your space.

                          A:

The mattress rests on a slat system of twelve steel bars. I'm sorry we don't offer an image of this on the Piper bed but the system is the same for all of our steel beds. If you look at the Parsons bed, you'll see the last additional image shows the slat system.
