Customer comments about Eden 82" Convertible Sleeper Sofa:

I purchased this sofa online (without testing it for comfort) for a studio apartment I'm renting while I work for a year in a new city. As I am living in a studio apartment, this sofa is also my bed. The sofa looks great and the ritual of daily opening and closing are easy for me, however the mattress/cushions are extremely hard. Sleeping comfortably has taken some getting used to and I suspect that some may prefer a mattress topper.

Customer comments about Eden 82" Convertible Sleeper Sofa:

We bought this to serve as a couch and occasional sofa bed in a spare bedroom that serves multiple functions. Our house is small (built 1950) and most furniture items need to serve several functions. This sofa is essentially a high end version of a futon. When it is in sofa mode it looks very mid-century and fits the style of the house.

As reviews here indicated the cushions are very firm. To use it as a bed it was best to put an inflatable air bed on top. It makes an excellent platform for that. The fabric is on the rough side- it is not a soft surface. We had the chance to see the sofa in the flesh at a Room and Board store before ordering so that was not a surprise, but if you are buying this blind think about asking for a sample if that is a concern.

The ability to drop each of the three section independently is a nice touch and gives great flexibility in presentation and use. Just be aware that the frame extends out even with the cushions up which would prevent extra creative placement options.

Rating it 4 instead of 5 stars because ours has developed a bit of a squeak. Probably can fix it with some WD40 but annoying that it happens with a piece of furniture that is only a month old. Other than that very pleased. We looked at many other stores and there is nothing even close on the market. The alternatives are very low end.

      Very Stiff Sofa

Customer comments about Eden 82" Convertible Sleeper Sofa:

Everyone I dealt with at Room & Board was exceedingly helpful and kind, from the customer service reps to the delivery men. Unfortunately, the sofa did not work out for us. It's incredibly stiff, and actually gave me back pains after sitting on it for an extended period of time. It's very attractive and seems well made, but it is not a pleasant sit, even by futon standards. It would probably work much better in a guest room, where it would mostly be decorative. I just can't imagine anyone being happy with this as their primary sofa. Bummer! We really wanted to like it.

      Service and delivery comments:

Delivery was prompt, and both the guys that brought the couch originally and that ones that picked it up later were super helpful and friendly! A pleasure to work with.

Great looking sleeper. I compared this to every sleeper I could find in the LA area. Most that were in this style were either cheaply made or twice as expensive.

This sleeper is very firm which I was worried about except that when I have had friends stay over the first thing they say when they wake up is how good their back feels.

Just what I was looking for, a convertible sofa for TV-Den/Guest Bedroom that DOESN'T look like a big fat box of beige microfiber. Such a fresh and current (retro) look, love the tapered wood legs. Not as heavy and boxy looking as nearly all the typical sofa beds, yet doesn't at all look like those cheap futons. Just well done all around.

I use this couch in a guest/TV room. It's beautiful and great for TV watching, but I gave it four stars because it really is a bit too hard to sleep on as is. I bought a mattress topper to make it more comfortable for guests.

                • Eden 82" Convertible Sleeper Sofa

                  Q:

How deep is the Eden ( namely how far from the wall will it project) when fully upright; and also how deep when the seats are in the semi reclining position. We are wondering if it will be too large for our small room. When fully open in bed mode, it neatly fills the room.

The fabric for our Eden and Encore sofas is 100% polyester with the cleaning code “S”, for solvent based cleaners. Synthetic fibers are inherently more stain resistant than natural fibers, providing both durability and performance.

The dimensions when open are 46w 83d. This is slightly longer that a queen (60w x 80d), but less wide than a full (54w x 75d). Queen sheets wil fit this sleeper.

                    A:

Measuring the Eden setting upright the back base portion comes out 10 inches (with all seats upright) and then when extended down and out another 10 inches out to the wall. So you will need to have it pulled away slightly from the wall or move it out when you want to lay it down.

The Eden and Encore have the same convertible functionality and tailoring details. The difference between the two is the base. Eden has a wood leg and the Encore has a chrome legs.

The size of the sleeping area for the Eden Convertible Sleeper Sofa is approximately 82x46" which is in between a twin and full size bed. We would recommend that you use a full size sheet set.
