The bed is stunning! Simple and elegant. The only downside is that it sticks out a little past the mattress but you can't tell because our duvet hangs over the edges. I also didn't buy the bed with storage but store tons of stuff underneath it which is hidden by the piece of wood at the end. So happy with it!

I was looking for a bed that was completely made of wood, no metal, (I like wood a lot) and then it was love at the first site! very personal feeling.

          Service and delivery comments:

The item came in good condition, and delivered on time. Very acknowledged staff with good attitude!
The first mattress I got was too firm, so I ask to change it with a softer one, and the staff was very helpful and kind.

Absolutely love this bed. It's become the focal point in the room and houses the large pillow top mattress I purchased from another source. Solid, sturdy and neutral enough to go with the other furniture I already had in the room. The corners of the bed platform are exposed before the bed is made, but that's not a big con for me.

Customer comments about Room & Board Hudson Full Bed:

The bed is beautiful and we love it. However, the first bed had cracks in the headboard & foot board. Room & Board was great to deal with and even pointed out the crack in the headboard, and had already ordered a replacement. The first bed frame was available in the warehouse. The replacements were made by the manufacturer and shipped out, which is where we have an issue. The finishing products are off-gassing and smell horrible. We slept on it one night and woke up with sore throats and unrested (after having excellent nights' sleeps on the mattress and bed frame before the headboard and foot board were replaced).

We love the bed frame, so we disassembled it and put the headboard and foot board in the garage to off-gas. So now we'll be sleeping on our mattress on the floor for the next month or so. I just don't understand why a low or no VOC finishing product can't be used. I would pay the cost difference. As a mechanical engineer who designs HVAC systems, I understand the importance of indoor air quality. I would recommend that the finishing products be changed to a low or no VOC product. If you do buy the bed, I would recommend asking for one that has been sitting in the warehouse awhile to allow for off-gassing.

              Service and delivery comments:

Room & Board was excellent to deal with. Very professional.

Love the looks: clean lines, beautiful wood.
However, the slats do not lay flat, which makes the bed wobble and squeak. We finally could not stand it any more. Today we spent 2 hours investigating the issue and trying to fit it, to no avail. It's just very poor design. The construction is as follows: A beam connects the foot board and head board, and in the middle of the beam there's a small cub resting on the floor and providing extra support. There are slits on both sides of the frame, and each individual slat is supposed to fit in the slits and rest on top of the beam. However, the measurements apparently are not accurate, the foot board, the head board, and the cube in the middle of the beam do not rest on one plane. As a consequence, the slats do not rest on top of the beam, but wobble badly. Now we are also worried that the bed will not provide ample support. Very, very disappointed in this purchase.

The wood slats on this base provide more than enough support for your mattress. If you prefer, you may add our Platform Board for a more tailored appearance, support for memory foam mattresses, or ease of bed making.

I visited one of your stores and had a chance to see samples of the woods used for this bed. The Solid Maple with Charcoal Stain is one option I might consider. However, I noticed that the block sample was noticeably darker than a furniture piece (I think it was one of the Hudson dining armoires) that had the same stain description. One of the associates said that the particular WV producers may be using a somewhat lighter stain, through which you can see the wood grain more clearly. Is this the case for this particular collection? Over time, should I expect such a finish to get darker or lighter with time?

                      A:

Our block samples are a representation of the charcoal stain, but there can be variances in the type of wood between our vendors. The Hudson piece you saw in the showroom would be the best example of the charcoal stain you can expect on your Hudson bed. Zooming in on the main image on the the product page also shows the depth of the stain. The charcoal stain will keep a consistent finish and should not lighten or darken over time.

                      A:

The slats are always made from a hardwood but it can vary depending on availability of materials. Most often they are maple or ash.

Is this bed of slat construction or does the mattress rest on a solid piece of wood?

                      A:

The Hudson bed features a wood slat support system with a center rail and support leg. There is about 4" between each wood slat.
