Customer comments about Thatcher Side Chair:

Love the design but hate the ebony finish. Noticed scratches on the back and arms down to the bare wood after a few months. The store charged $79 to come out and Cover the scratches, but now after two years the chairs are full of scratches.. Wiping up food not easy. Our children are grown but grandchildren visit frequently. Definitely not for a family with children and not for everyday use in the kitchen. I think I will repaint the chairs myself.

Customer comments about Thatcher Side Chair:

Love the look of these chairs with our cherry table, but the finish varied between chairs and on some it did not have stain completely on each spindle down to the seat of the chair. Disappointed in this feature for the price we paid. But otherwise we are very satisfied.

Customer comments about Thatcher Side Chair:

Something about the finish makes it a tad difficult to simply wipe dust away. Other than that, they're a great set of chairs and we love them.

No issues with the ebony finish scratching off yet, which was a concern of mine when I read the other reviews.

Customer comments about Thatcher Side Chair:

These chairs are so light I can pick one up with one hand, and yet they are very sturdy. They go perfectly with a Shaker style table that my husband made from a black walnut tree from our backyard. The wood grain is beautiful in the top horizontal pieces. The only con is that in traditional Windsor chairs there is more contouring in the seats, and they are more comfortable for that reason. They also cost twice as much as these. Still, these are comfortable enough. We also move them around to use as a desk chair, and will use them in the living room if we have additional guests. Extremely versatile!

Customer comments about Thatcher Side Chair:

These chairs are fantastic! I am so pleased every time I walk in my dining room. Looked for years to find chairs the right size for our overly tall, handmade dining table and these are perfect. They are big, but very well proportioned. They feel very solid and well constructed without being heavy. I only gave 4/5 stars, because I have not had them long enough to see how they'll hold up. I suspect they will be favorites for years to come.

                Service and delivery comments:

Delivery was on time and courteous.

                  Q:

Can you tell me more about the seat height of the Thatcher chair? Is it 18" high in the front AND the back? We're finding that many chair slant back and we would like to know if this one slants and by how much.

                  Thanks!

                    A:

The Thatcher chair has an even seat that does not lower toward the back. In some of the additional photos we provide with the chairs in a room environment, you are able to see the chair from a side view.
