Comments: I love the Copenhagen bookcase for its clean lines and great design. Although my house is transitional/traditional in feel, this bookcase would fit in any decor. Extremely sturdy, it is filled with all my favorite books. I loved it from the moment I saw it in the catalog and was not disappointed upon arrival.

Comments: I have a small space, so the Coppenhagen bookcase was the perfect size! It give me flexibility to display books, pottery, and photos in a classic design and finish. It is the perfect addition to my living room and gives the room the look and feel of a library.

Comments: I placed this between two wider bookcases in the Copenhagen collection. I looked for a long time for well-finished bookcases for my living room that did not cost an arm and a leg. This collection is a really great value. I have had these pieces for almost a year and could not be more pleased. [...]

Comments: I looked for a long time for well-finished bookcases for our living room. I wanted something that was stylish, modern and didn't cost an arm and a leg. These are perfect. I combined two of these with the narrow bookcase in this collection. I could not be more pleased. [...]

Comments: We bought the whole bedroom set in the Copenhagen Style. It is clean and warm (cherry wood) and very well made. Every day when we wake up we are pleased with how lovely our bedroom looks and are happy with our purchase. I love Room & Board and recommend them to everyone looking for furniture.

Comments: This is a great looking and functional bookcase but the finish quality is poor. The ebony stained maple doesn't have any grain at all and is a flat black melamine look. The veneer is very thin and in some places sanded off revealing the rough fiberboard underneath. This is not how it is depicted on the website where the wood grain is showing under the stain. The Room and Board customer service is excellent and they are going to fix (hopefully) the rough patches or replace the unit, but overall I think that the veneer should have been thicker and if it is called stained maple, it should look like stained wood.

Comments: Delivery was a complete nightmare. Room and Board contracts delivery out to third parties, so beware. When the product finally arrived after two disastrous attempts and a long, long wait, the back panel was barely adhered to the bookcase. The back piece is held on by small staples, most of which had popped out prior to delivery. Dealing with Room and Board for this particular purchase was just too difficult and too time consuming, so I made no effort to remedy this problem. I gave up. I was really disappointed, I regret to say.

Comments: We use this for books and photo displays and it works perfectly. We opted for the walnut and it has a clean line but rich feel to it. Very happy with it so far.

Comments: terrific, solid, good looking. only one adjustable shelf, but that's not a big deal.

Comments: This bookshelf works great in my living room with modern-looking decor (stainless steel home theater A/V equipment rack, wall-mounted TV, black leather couch, modern stainless steel chandelier, etc). The black finish is a nice solid matte black (ie, almost no visible grain), which works well in my situation. It also matches my Copenhagen bedroom nighstands and dresser.
The shelves are relatively easy to adjust, and I had two extra shelves after configuring the shelf heights to what I considered appropriate for average height books. That's certainly better than the opposite problem of not having enough shelves.

COPENHAGEN CONSTRUCTION DETAILS
Learn how every part of our American-made Copenhagen collection is created, from the materials and hardware
to construction methods and finish details.
Each Copenhagen piece is constructed one at a time by an expert artisan. The entire case is
reinforced with time-tested joinery, built and assembled by hand and then hand sanded and finished
before it comes to you as a fully assembled piece. Our commitment to benchmade construction ensures
you receive furniture that's built to last a lifetime.
Copenhagen is made entirely of wood veneer. Two different types of wood veneer are used: solid wood veneer for natural woods and wood fiber veneer for white and ebony. Solid wood veneer is created by adhering a thin layer of solid wood to premium grade particle board. Wood fiber veneer employs the same process, but the solid wood is replaced by a thin sheet of recycled wood fibers. Wood fiber veneer’s grain-free surface is specifically designed to be painted.
Wood veneer increases the structural integrity of a piece because it does not expand and contract with seasonal humidity changes like solid wood. Our high quality wood veneers are CARB 2 compliant for low emissions.
A low-sheen lacquer is hand applied to all Copenhagen pieces to seal and protect the surface of the wood veneer. Craftsmen carefully inspect for drips and even application. Solid colors are achieved by adding pigment to the lacquer.
Exterior back panels are left unfinished. You can customize Copenhagen to include a finished back for an additional cost.
Drawers and Glides
Drawer fronts are wood veneer and each is perfectly aligned within the frame. The drawer boxes
have Baltic birch plywood sides connected with dovetail joinery and a wood veneer bottom.
Full-extension ball-bearing glides allow you to see the entire drawer when fully open and glide
smoothly even when the drawer is filled to its 100-pound capacity. Drawer interiors are hand sanded
and sealed with lacquer for a smooth, snag-free finish.
Doors, Shelves and Hardware
All doors are wood veneer and precisely inset within the frame. Concealed, fully adjustable hinges
open 120 degrees and give you the option to adjust the door alignment for perfect functionality
through years of use. Interior latches keep doors securely closed. Wood veneer shelves rest on
adjustable steel pins. Optional swiveling locking casters are suitable for hardwood or carpet. We
designed the aluminum slab pulls and steel bases exclusively for this collection.
