In 1991, Lavern Modrow turned his passion for woodworking and Arts & Crafts furniture into a small business. He set up shop in a 2,500-square-foot space with two employees and equipment from his garage workshop. As the company has grown, it has not abandoned the incredible attention to detail and handcraftsmanship of its humble beginnings.
Solid wood is used for all tops, drawer fronts and end panels. Special care is taken to ensure that wood characteristics best complement the designs, and that end panels of cabinets are uniform with the grain patterns of the tops and drawer fronts. Cabinet tops are screwed on instead of glued. The insides of cases are always finished. Dovetail joints are used to construct drawers. An oil-and-wax finish is applied by hand to enhance the wood’s natural beauty.
Our partnership to create Linear includes a steel shop in Minnesota, which handcrafts the steel bases and pulls that complete each Linear cabinet. Click here to read their story. |
