We bought this to compliment the steel framed windows in our bedroom and to be a contrast to our mid century walnut dressers. The walnut was dark and a bit heavy. Using these as nigth stands tied the materials in the room together as well as provided a airy feel around the bed and opened up the room a bit. The glass tops really helped to let the light through but yet provide a beautiful functional table on either side of the bed. We almost got glass inserted at the bottom for additional selving for magazine but were happy to have not gotten them. I keeps the feel more open and airy which was more important to us that creating another place to put "stuff". Simple and less cluttered..that was out goal!
