This chest holds virtually all of my lingerie and shirts, as well as most of my jewelry. I love the smooth operation of the drawers. The cherry wood is lovely, but I expected a slightly richer finish. This appears to have no oil or wax, but maybe it will develop. I wanted wooden knobs, but it doesn't come with those. Now that I have it with the silver knobs, I've decided to keep them for awhile rather than changing them right away as I planned.

The delivery was very prompt and the produce arrived in perfect condition. Customer service was helpful when I called about care of the item, although care instructions could have been provided at the time of purchase or with delivery.

Drawers are made of plywood, with a hardwood exterior; the inside of the dresser is made of particle board, with a wood veneer. For being advertised as a "handcrafted dresser," I was disappointed. On the positive side, at least I didn't have to assemble it myself.

Very nice looking dresser, Had 2 problems with it:
1. Delivery was very difficult to schedule and very vague as to the expected delivery date. Because of this, took way too long to receive it.
2. Drawer pulls keep moving. Tried to tighten but they do not exactly line up where they should be. So, can't tighten enough to make them stable. FYI, the drawer pulls we chose were rectangular, so they have to line up exactly.

Great dresser, well designed and well constructed... My only complaint is, the maple veneer wasn't up to the usual R&B quality. Usually it's more shiney and smooth, but this one wasn't. It almost appears to be missing a top coat. I was a little disappointed, but overall, I still like it and it works well for my kids' clothing.

furniture itself is stylish and beautiful. However, I would never buy from R&B again if I had to go through their national delivery service or deal with their customer service

These comments are strictly about my experiences with their national delivery and customer service. The furniture itself is great. I ordered bedroom furniture and was informed it was to be delivered on a Friday morning. Got a call the night before at 8:30pm stating that delivery was delayed until Friday from 7-9pm! Then late Friday afternoon was informed delivery was delayed until Saturday am. Took a day off from work for nothing. Upon delivery, 2 guys rang my doorbell holding the 10 drawer dresser upside down. I had to scramble to clear a path for them in the house since they obviously had not bothered to scope out the house ahead of time. Then one guy gouged the dresser while bringing in the support bars for the bed into the bedroom. Called customer support, they said they would deliver a new dresser. Received a call informing me that delivery was on a Friday when I was unavailable. They stated they would get back to me regarding another time which they never did. After another week and a half passed, I finally called them the day before delivery and they stated they could deliver on Friday afternoon which as I pointed out earlier I could not do. I have requested other options such as credit or return. They said that was an option and would get back to me regarding details. Another week has passed without a response. I called and left a message and am still waiting to hear back. It has been over 2 months since the furniture was delivered, and I am still waiting for some resolution of this. I can't imagine my experience is unique. Customer service is polite and apologetic over the phone but is completely impotent with respect to delivering actual solutions.

Q:
How do I clean, refinish the top of my Solid walnut and walnut veneer dresser? We were flooded by Super Storm Sandy and the contractors may have left a glass and other items on the top of the dresser. what can I use to remove any stains or marks that are there?

The finish on the Sherwood dresser is oil and wax and this means you won't have to deal with removing a lacquer finish. The process to touchup the top isn't difficult but it takes time and finesse to work with the wood so you might consider working with a furniture expert for the best results.
A very mild sanding with fine grade steel wool, working with the grain of the wood and then sealing again with our satin wax is the process but we'll connect with you directly to talk this through.Answered on 4/25/2013 by Design Associate from Room & Board
