I wanted a DEEP sofa that could withstand my pup and kitty. I've had family visiting for Thanksgiving, so I've been sleeping on this couch. Actually, two of us have been sleeping very comfortably on this couch.
My kitty has all of her claws and used to scratch her nails on the prior couch. I've been working with her, but even when she sporadically scratches her claws on the couch, the fabric on this couch withstands her scratching.
The ONLY downside to this couch is that this couch seems to attract a lot of pet fur. It could be my issue because of the color I chose. My sofa is black and my fur-babies shed blond hair. In any case, this issue doesn't warrant giving this couch only four stars.

This sofa is very well made, with amazing cushions, and gives a level of comfort no other sofas could match. The fabric is very durable but may be too rough for some. The stock dark fabric shows dirt and pet hair a bit more than I hoped, but it's easy to vacuum. I didn't notice in the showroom that the arms flare out a bit. In a smaller space, squared arms might be better. With back cushions on, it's good for sitting upright, but too confining laying down. It's easy to remove the back cushions for lounging like a day bed, and is comfortable for an overnight guest. The fabric had some irregular flecks of light colored fiber in it.
