Eero Saarinen's graceful 1956 design inspired our Saarinen table. The modernist designer strove to eliminate any extraneous parts, including typical table legs. The result is a sculptural form that elevates any space.

Just paid $480 to restore and seal table top - I haven't had a year yet. I hope the seal works better than what was provided at purchase. Not a table for use.

We love the way this table looks but the finish on the marble scratches off way, way too easily, making it very difficult to clean. Major $$$$ spent and the top is already scratched——and by a relatively soft textured sponge. Almost wish I had gotten a cheaper knockoff version elsewhere with a better coat of finish. The design of the table suggests it is meant to be hardy (we thought that's what getting a stone top would mean). Definitely not good if you have kids.

I switched to the oval table at the last minute and so glad I did because it is so distinctive and unique. I only have 4 chairs but am thinking of adding two more.

I have wanted a saarann table for many years and now that I have moved to an apt. it is the perfect addition. the size works although I do wish it came a bit bigger. I also would have liked it a bit better if the marble pattern was more distinct.

We do love the appearance of this table. Bought at Room & Board because it was less expensive than the competitor. While we understood that the finish (unlike the competitor's) was not sealed we never, ever expected it to retain the random, unexplainable marks and scratches which is has sustained. Have never used it to prepare food on, have not dribbled or dropped anything acidic, yet it has stains on it which I cannot remove with simple soap and water. It is polished marble and I cannot understand why this has happened, sealed or not. Disappointed.

The table is beautiful and sleek. It's contemporary and classic. Its a great price but its not the real thing. Just know this before purchasing. I love R&B but am rather miffed that they casually pass this off under the Saarinen name when in fact its a rather expensive knock off.

Do not buy this table if you plan to use it. I can't complain about anything except for the fact that it scratches if you put anything on it, and water stains really easily. I opted for this one over the competitors because it was cheaper, however theirs was sealed. I would recommend going for a sealed one.

I loved the table but was worried the white marble would stain. We have had the table for 6 months and no stains. A few times, it appeared there may be a stain, but it subsequently faded. We are happy with the purchase...love the round pedestal design!

DESIGN ASSOCIATE
A:
The Saarinen 47r dining table top comes with a wood support attached to the underside of the top. The base has a threaded bolt that goes through the center of the base and is then attached to the wood support plate. Marble thickness on Saarinen dining table top is 3/4 inch and weighs approximately 165 lbs. The top has a polished finish.Answered on 5/15/2013 by Design Associate from Room & Board
