Customer comments about Emmet Lounge Chair:

We purchased 4 chairs for around our outdoor fire pit - and loved them so much we purchased 2 more. They are very solid and heavy so there is no need to worry about these chairs blowing away (we live on the water), also extremely comfortable. But what initially drew me to them was that they are made from recycled material and very stylish.

I have 2 of these chairs with ottomans. They look like new after 3 years outside. I recently moved them to a shady spot because of concerns about fading. So far they haven't faded nearly as much as a bench I bought in green.

It's not unreasonable that any piece of furniture exposed to UV light would fade eventually. It's just that the material of these chairs can't be stained or painted. I'm OK with that. Just pick a color that will fade to an acceptable shade or place it out of the sunlight.

Customer comments about Emmet Lounge Chair:

These are beautiful and comfortable chairs. Because of concerns we read about difficulty of assembly, we followed the recommendations to assemble with 2 people, taking our time, and on a softer surface (grass or box). The first chair took a bit of time with two, but once I figured out how pieces went together I easily did the second one by myself. We use these chairs on our front porch and had concerns that they may not be high enough to see over the railing (~36") of the porch but they work fine. They look stunning on our porch and help make the porch/front of our house pop! Love that they are made of recycled material! Easy to clean & impervious to the elements. We plan to leave them out all year long, so I will be curious to see how they hold up in Iowa weather on a covered porch. We love them! Bottle opener is a bonus!

Does the color of the Emmet chair fad over time when used outdoors?
Asked on 9/26/2013 by Pete from St. Helena, CA

              1 answer

              • DESIGN ASSOCIATE

                A:

The sun is very hard on materials that have constant direct exposure and we cannot guarantee the
material color will not change over time. The HDPE used in the Emmett collection has a UV
stabilizer and is very resistant to fading. The color is not a finish coat; it is a pigment embedded in the
                material throughout.

There is a slight texture to the recycled polyethylene material used on the Emmet collection. Texture would be comparable to that of an orange peel.
