Problem with The White Glass Top

Customer comments about Benson 42r Dining Table:

My family and I found The Benson to be perfect for our dining area without sacrificing quality and style. One of the things that attracted us were the various top options available. Unfortunately, we have deep regrets with our decision to go with the White Glass Top. Living in a small apartment...The Benson serves as a multi-funtional table for us. Although the glass is heavy and does not wobble, it DOES, shift. In less than two years our table grips have worn and fall frequently. As a result, the white paint scratches (too easily for my liking). We now have several unsightly scratches that show through the table. If I knew that the White finish was so poor, I would have went with another top or Krazy-Glued the grips to the base. I have spoken to Room and Board and there isn't a touch up kit available for this issue.

Customer comments about Benson 48r Dining Table:

The quality of this table is fantastic--I was surprised how thick (and heavy) the glass top was which is great so it doesn't slide around. The frame is very heavy and sturdy as well.

Customer comments about Benson 48r Dining Table:

This is our breakfast nook table. By itself, it looks more like office furniture but we bought the Afton chairs in cherry to go around it and it warms the table right up. Our previous breakfast table was also a round glass table but over time the glass kept sliding on the cyclindrical frame. I felt like our old table was an accident waiting to happen. This table's glass is quite heavy, sitting on rubber nubs but with a sturdy, flat frame below making me very confident that the glass isn't going to slide over time. This table also pairs with a variety of chairs from very casual to upscale dining or office chairs.

The only functional thing that I didn't even know I would miss is that this table doesn't have any supports at the bottom meaning that there's no place to put your feet up. I guess my old table had this support structure and I find myself still trying to put my feet up and they're just flopping to the floor! Of course, a structure at the bottom would change the look as well.

      Service and delivery comments:

The guys were right on time and super-friendly. Called first just like I asked of them (even though I didn't make the call request at the time of scheduling the delivery and only a day prior). It's nice when the system actually works!

Customer comments about Benson 42r Dining Table:

We have a very small dining area and this table fits perfect and looks fantastic. We were concerned based on some reviews that the 42" table was too small for everyday use, but it's perfect for 4 without feeling too cramped. We have the glass top, which cleans very easily, even if it needs to be cleaned after every use on account of our 3 year old :) It's also pretty lightweight so it's easy to move around to clean underneath. Overall we are extremely happy with our purchase, along with all of the other R&B furniture in our house!

Customer comments about Benson 48r Dining Table:

I was skeptical. I thought it might wobble or not take the weight of elbows on table. It's great. There hasn't been a single moment when I was worried. It looks very cool (great with our Eames chairs) and when it's clean it's just so cool. But! Glass cleaner and placemats are a must. It's kind of a loud table in that respect. Still -- I love it.

        Service and delivery comments:

Excellent delivery services. Smart and courteous drivers/guys. Matches the quality of the product.

Customer comments about Benson 42r Dining Table:

I love the table. It's super sexy with the Madrid chairs. Very modern. My only issue is that the glass scratches easily. Within a week, we had scratches. So if you have a naughty 18 month old like I do, then you may want to reconsider. Although we've remedied the issue with some leather place mats. Other than that, it's really the perfect table for a small dining room or breakfast room, in my case. We originally paired the table with jake chairs to minimize space, but those didn't work out b/c they were very light and my son couldn't sit on them without it being dangerous. The Madrid chairs actually look better and are sturdier. Worth the money, the table and chairs are great!

Customer comments about Benson 42r Dining Table:

Although the 42" size is smaller than my old table, it functions well for my family of four. I needed a smaller table to accommodate counter seating at my kitchen peninsula. The table can hold place settings for four, but most extra dishes, condiments etc..., need to be placed on the adjacent counter. Shows every smudge and fingerprint, but is very easy to clean. My kitchen has very dark cabinets, creamy white quartz counters, and stainless steel appliances. The glass top and stainless base work well with the kitchen finishes. The table earned 5 stars from me because it functions exactly as I expected and looks great in my kitchen.

            • Benson 42r Dining Table

              Q:

How does the top attach to the table? Does it just rest there based on its own weight? I'm concerned about the top moving around if leaned on. In particular, if I select a wood top, can it attach with screws or other fasteners?

              • DESIGN ASSOCIATE

                A:

The wood table tops attach to the base with screws into the underside of the top. The stone and glass tops rest on the base and their weight holds them in place. There is overhang on the table top so if significant weight is put on the edge, the top could tip up.
