Lateral file cabinets are hard to come by. The few ones out there are strictly "office style".
I wanted a filing cabinet that could blend in since it's not in an office per se, but in the family/living room space. Plenty of room and the deep drawers can be used for other storage as well. Solid construction. Love the locking mechanism that allows only one drawer open at a time. I actually enjoy filing my documents now!

The piece in espresso was much darker than in the picture (I thought there would be a dark brown hue, but it is BLACK); it is an extremely heavy piece of furniture, for what it is; the rails that the files sit on jump off regularly and drop the files on the bottom of the cabinet, and you then need to spend some time fishing the rail-connector pieces out from the back of the unit from behind the drawers (it is as difficult as it sounds); the rails are flimsy and wobble and bend. This was a nice piece in theory, but was designed extremely poorly. My purchase of it has made me question upcoming furniture purchases from R&B.

I have been looking for a nice filing cabinet and this is the best I could find! Stylish, clean and simple. Very functional. Best of all, it's wide and fits my room perfectly. Great to put a TV on top and still feel light and airy. The only downside is that it's very pricy. I received many compliments - a friend of mine wanted to buy the same thing until he sees the price tag!

Terrific filing cabinet. The finish is VERY uniform and shiny, I anticipated more of a stained wood, but this is closer to a veneer or laquer finish. There are already visible scratches in the finish, which may become an issue over time. Fortunately I'm the only one using this room! Otherwise, a great piece.
