Customer comments about Gallery 85h 33w Leaning Desk:
The leaning bookshelf is an addition to my Media Wall. I live in a South Loop loft where less is more in my small space. The bookshelf was a no brainer. I would have given it a 5 star rating if the depth of the desk was 5 inches greater. I may ask Room & Board to cut me a custom piece and make that happen. I removed the second bookshelf to place my laptop on a riser pad(photo).

Makes a great desk for fans of clean desk policies. Matches leaning book cases. Not for folks who need lots of flat space or drawers.

Customer comments about Gallery 85h 33w Leaning Desk:
We purchased the Gallery Leaning Desk and companion bookcase to use in my 8-year old son's room. He was ready to graduate up to a more "grown-up" version of the bedroom and really wanted a desk. But we live in an older home with small rooms, so finding a desk that would fit was a challenge. But this Gallery desk fits the bill. He is happy because he has a desk, we are happy because it is ample storage for all his books and trinkets, and we all love the smart look. The only downside was a bit of that chemical off-gassing odor for the first couple of weeks, but I have found that is the same with basically any wood furniture you buy new from any source these days.

Customer comments about Gallery 85h 33w Leaning Desk:
We are so happy with this purchase so far! There is a big closet in my son's small room, and we did not want to add a dresser or big bookshelf. This was the perfect discovery! It holds a TON of his books and he will be able to use the desk for years. Looks great in white/steel with the steel Piper twin bed.

Customer comments about Gallery 85h 33w Leaning Desk:
I live in an open-space apartment in Brooklyn, NY. I needed something that I could use as a desk in my living area that doesn't look like a desk and also blends in with my other furnishings. I found this piece at Room and Board and I couldn't be happier. I have steel Design Within Reach bookshelves and bookshelves made by Amish people in Pennsylvania. This bookshelf combines both elements in an elegant and highly functional way. I love it. It's more than I asked for. And don't tell D&B, but I would've paid much more for it--quality construction, [...] Very handsome finish.

Customer comments about Gallery 85h 33w Leaning Desk:
Like all R&B products this is an attractive, functional and beautifully made piece. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is that it took us about a month to allow the desk to "air out"--it must have been whatever varnish was used on the wood. It was hard to keep the windows open in the room during the Iowa winter, but it has finally stopped out-fuming. Would probably buy it again anyway, even knowing the hassle because I am sure it will serve us well for many years.

Customer comments about Gallery Leaning Desk:
4 years ago I bought three shelves that match this desk. I was not happy with the light finish, but o over time it has darkened into perfection. I always knew that this desk was next, it was just a matter of time. So when i bought a new bed and decided to get rid of a desk wall unit that took up an entire wall, this was the obvious choice. While it would be nice if the shelves were adjustable, I appreciate that it is as sturdy as it is. They are well spaced for fixed shelves and I made it work.

Customer comments about Gallery Leaning Desk:
Used in combination with media/entertainment shelf unit and side shelf unit. This is well made, looks both modern and electic. The shelving is ample but the desk is a bit smallish. Good for smaller rooms/areas with limited desk space.

Q:
Hi,
One of the reviewers removed the shelf above the work shelf to make more room. I would have to do the same thing since my monitor is 17 inches tall and the space between the shelves is 15 inches. How hard is it to remove that shelf? Hopefully it is just screwed in?
Thank youAsked on 5/18/2013 by Yogi1 answer

A:
Yes, each shelf has a couple of screws on the underside to connect to each post. The shelves are a part of the stability of the piece, but if you only remove one and make sure the rest lean against the wall for support then you should be fine to remove that first shelf above the desk.Answered on 5/18/2013 by Design Associate from Room & Board

A:
The work surface is 20"d. The top shelf is 7"d and the other two are 8.5"d and all are 30"w at the narrowest point.Answered on 5/6/2013 by Design Associate from Room & Board
