My two-year-old son loves this mattress. We love it because it's made from natural materials. We were concerned it would be too firm, but it's perfect! My son jumps on it constantly, and it shows no signs of wear yet. Hope it continues to hold up to his abuse!

Comfortable yet firm. Possibly firmer than what I'm used to . . . No "toxic" smells. Most of all, I feel good going to sleep knowing that it's made from all-natural materials.

        Service and delivery comments:

The only bad thing I have to say about this mattress was the waiting time. It was back ordered so it was expected, though. It was a very quick delivery once the men arrived. Very polite. Shoes off at the door. Arrived in good condition. And customer service gave a heads up to the delivery time well in advance.

Customer comments about Room & Board King Plush Innerspring Mattress with Bio Cotton:

This mattress is the best. I used to own the firmer version of this mattress and it was the best mattress I had ever had. After getting married my husband wanted something slightly softer so we bought this mattress in a king and switched to the plush version. It is still very firm but just has a little bit of extra cushion and makes for the perfect mattress for both myself and my husband.

Customer comments about Room & Board Full Plush Innerspring Mattress with Bio Cotton:

Bought this for the guest bedroom. Love Room & Board and much of our furniture was purchased at R&B, but this mattress is too hard- even though we selected the plush model- and too expensive for what it is. There is no extra padding around the edges of the mattress for structural support- which is something almost every manufacturer puts in to their innerspring mattresses- expensive or not very much so. My advice- save your money and go to a large department store when they're having a good sale, if you have a limited amount of cash to spend. I really regret buying this.

Customer comments about Room & Board Full Firm Innerspring Mattress with Bio Cotton:

I was very concerned I would not like this mattress since it wasn't in the showroom at the store nearest me, but I took a chance after bouncing on the other mattresses and talking to a rep on the telephone. I like my beds to be very firm: and I didn't want to have an impression where my body lies on the bed, so I didn't want the individually-wrapped coil type of bed. (I want my weight distributed across area).
I'm also sensitive to latex, so I didn't want the all natural-with latex versions of the mattresses.
Thirdly, I wanted to buy an american-made mattress. (Where my limited funds can handle- and in this case it was supportable).

So I took a chance, and I'm sleeping much better on this. Delivery guys were nice and a bit funny (I'll explain in the service/delivery commentary).
Now my only question is how long does this mattress last? I hated shopping for mattresses (not the fault of Room and Board, but they made it a lot easier for me than other retailers).

          Service and delivery comments:

Delivery was prompt, and movers took away old mattress. Customer service was great- very friendly, and able to answer my questions and never made me feel pressured. It was like talking to an old friend.

Product arrived nice and new (a mattress could be a biological hazard if it were not) and the movers were very friendly. When I asked about why they bag the entire old mattress, they explained it was for hygiene reasons, and I thought at first it was for cases of children having er, left their mark on old mattresses. The subtle answer was something about "very large children" also apply. (Cracked a smile on that explanation and made me laugh for the day.)
thanks guys. I look forward to having a nicer house to get more furnishings from you sometime.

Customer comments about Room & Board Queen Firm Innerspring Mattress with Bio Cotton:

I was on the hunt for an affordable organic mattress. The R&B innerspring king-size mattress fit all our criteria. Regretfully, from day one, the bed did not work out at all. For whatever reason, the two sides of the bed were completely different! One side was a dream. Firm & not squeaky. The other side was a nightmare. Even our 4 yr old daughter could feel the difference. As she rolled from side-to-side, the one side of the mattress caved in under her 32 lb weight. You can imagine how "comfortable" it was for an adult. The springs could be felt & heard with every small movement. What a disappointment considering it was 1/2 perfect. Alas, the (defective?) mattress had to be returned ASAP. Hope we'll have better luck with the replacement!

              Two questions:
              1. What does it mean that it is not double-sided? Is it open on one side?
              2. I have only a metal frame from our old mattress and box spring set. Will this be suitable or does it need more of a platform to rest on?
              Thanks!

                A:

                Hello,
Our mattresses are not flippable. This means the top is a quilted mattress as you would expect, but the bottom has a supportive, platform board-like surface. This provides support for the entire mattress as well as makes certain it will not slip. You may use it with your existing frame and box spring. It will work beautifully in that setting. Please feel welcome to contact us at shop@roomandboard.com or 800.486.6554 if you have additional questions.

                Best regards,

I'm interested in this bed because it appears that it uses natural materials.

I don't require organic, but I want to avoid the chemicals in newer mattresses.

                A:

All mattresses comply to TB-603 and Federal 1633 by utilizing products that are inherently flame
resistant. The flame resistance is built-in and permanent as a result of the chemistry of the fibers, so no
topical treatments are required. All mattresses are free of flame retardant chemicals and are non-toxic.

I'm considering this mattress for my 4 year old daughter and wondering if you would recommend the firm or plush option? Would the plush be considered 'plush firm'?

Also, will it fit with your Webster full size bed? Some reviews suggest that there sometimes can be gaps at the top or bottom of the bed.
Asked on 8/15/2013 by Natalie from United States

              1 answer

              • DESIGN ASSOCIATE

                A:

The Firm mattress is extremely firm. The Plush is slightly softer, but not extremely soft. Both will soften with time. You may want to select the firm and use a feather bed as a mattress topper to give you a "plush firm" feel as well as provide an added layer of protection for the mattress.
There will be a tiny bit of extra room on all of our frames to accommodate easily making the bed. Our mattress and frame collections are all standard US dimensions.
