Customer comments about Latex Mattress with Bio Cotton & Wool:
We've had this mattress 6 years. It was sold to us as a 20 yr mattress but we started seeing and feeling body impressions after 5 years. Throughout its life we flipped it as directed but there the impressions are. To put the users into context: we are regular size, regular mass people--both between 5'9" and 6', 150 and 180 lbs. So our expensive, crazy heavy mattress may make it to 8 years with us but definately not the marketed 20 yrs. Sad waste of materials. Our $300 futon has lasted longer!

Customer comments about Latex Mattress with Bio Cotton & Wool:
We were replacing a 15 year old mattress and wanted something firm but not too firm. After sleeping on it for a couple of weeks, we were struck by how much it feels mushy and uneven like our old mattress. Plus it is extremely heavy and ungainly and one of the most expensive mattresses sold by Room and Board.

Customer comments about Room & Board King Latex Mattress with Bio Cotton & Wool:
Had to return this product (with the typical no-hassle Room and Board style) because even the firm side was very very soft. I was trying to duplicate a non-memory foam high density mattress I had used for 23 years but this was not it.
I ended up purchasing an ultra-firm mattress from another company. If you are looking for firm or ultra firm, this is not it.

Customer comments about Room & Board King Latex Mattress with Bio Cotton & Wool:
We were primarily looking for a bed made without flame retardant chemicals (this bed uses wool to comply with those government requirements), and R&B is one of the few brick-and-mortar stores that carries one. We've now been sleeping on the bed for about two months, and the comfort level has been great. There have been no issues with hot spots on the latex mattress, as we were worried about before buying. The price is high compared to conventional mattresses (with chemicals, springs, etc.), but it's actually very competitive compared to other chemical-free alternatives.

Customer comments about Room & Board King Latex Mattress with Bio Cotton & Wool:
I purchased the king mattress (my first king size bed). Although I love the bed I purchased at R&B and the look of this mattress on the bed, I have not gotten a good night's sleep yet. A number of problems. First and foremost, it feels too hot for me despite 2 mattress pad covers. In the middle of the night I wake up a mess unless the air conditioning is way low! I use the firm side, but when I switch to a bed in the home that has a regular firm mattress, I sleep much better. So the firmness in the latex is just not enough for me. Second, the bed is difficult to make, especially if you want to tuck in the sheets which I do. Incredibly heavy and awkward to handle. Third, the price is high. So considering the above, I plan to return it and pick out another. I can see where others might like it, but it is just not for me!

Customer comments about Room & Board California King Latex Mattress with Bio Cotton & Wool:
I bought this mattress in 2000. I have NEVER had to flip it. It never gets an imprint whatsoever. The only con I see to this mattress is don't EVER have to move it. It is VERY heavy. Otherwise, it is extremely durable, no box spring necessary, comfortable, and elegant! I keep it covered with a mattress pad and it is still showroom new. You will never need another mattress. I laid on this mattress in the showroom and I was sold. It is like sleeping on air. Cool in the summer, warm in the winter with the proper bedding. LOVE IT.

Customer comments about Room & Board King Latex Mattress with Bio Cotton & Wool:
I wanted a natural mattress that wasn't full of toxic chemicals. I've never had a latex mattress before. We switched from a regular mattress with a three-inch memory foam topper to this mattress and consider it a big improvement. The latex isn't hot the way that the memory foam sometimes was.The mattress itself is surprisingly flexible -[...]This makes it both easy and hard to make the bed -- it's easy to lift the corners of the mattress, but it's sometimes sufficiently floppy that the sheets are hard to get tucked under properly.

Customer comments about Room & Board King Latex Mattress with Bio Cotton & Wool:
Great mattress so far and I like that it's all-natural, organic materials, but it does sleep slightly hot without a feather topper, and I think a [$] mattress without box spring is very expensive.

Customer comments about Room & Board King Latex Mattress with Bio Cotton & Wool:
I was concerned that a rubber bed would be hot. I was assured that this rubber bed had holes in the rubber to breathe. I have not had a night since I bought the mattress that I have not awoken in a drenching sweat. It looks great on our Italian minimalist bed frame, though. I am not sure if style trumps comfort or not, but since it is returnable, I am still deciding. I have stopped using a duvet, and have tried several thicknesses of mattress pads, including one from room and board. None seem to fix the problem. I do not have the problem in a hotel bed, just this one.

- Latex Mattress with Bio Cotton & Wool
Q:
Is this mattress treated with any chemical flame retardants (e.g., TCEP, TDCPP, PBDE)?Asked on 6/16/2013 by Carissa1 answer
DESIGN ASSOCIATE
A:
The Room & Board latex mattress is not treated with chemical flame retardants. This mattress uses a natural fire-retardant fiber made from a natural by-product of wood pulp; our flame retardant is non-toxic and won't break down over time.

Q:
What is the ILD of the latex in the mattresses you offer (your site says "firm" or "soft" but trying to get more specific)? Also the the latex Dunlop or Talalay?Asked on 5/28/2013 by JDMWDC from Washington, DC1 answer
DESIGN ASSOCIATE
A:
The Indentation Load Deflection (ILD) for the firm side is 34, the soft side is 20. Our Latex foam is manufactured utilizing the Dunlap process, using only 100% natural rubber. It is free of any synthetic latex and no fillers are used.Answered on 5/28/2013 by Design Associate from Room & Board

Q:
Hi
I am wondering what sort of latex is used in the construction of the natural latex mattress. Is it 100% botanical latex, or is it synthetic (SBR) or a blend of the botanical and synthetic which is often referred to as 'natural'.Asked on 5/26/2013 by sleepy1 answer
DESIGN ASSOCIATE
A:
It is 100% natural rubber so yes, botanical latex and not a blend.Answered on 5/26/2013 by Design Associate from Room & Board
