Part of the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art, George Nelson's sculptural bubble designs became instant icons of mid-century modernism when introduced in 1947. They are constructed of a steel wire frame and covered with translucent plastic to emit a soft, even light.

A great piece to a mid century home. It looks great and puts out a nice glow of light. It even looks good when it is off. My parents had one when they were my age and now I get the chance to enjoy one.

This is a BIG lamp shade - the scale is perfect for our cathedral ceilings.
I did not love assembling this lamp, especially since the bracket that attaches the shade to the stem fell off and into the shade. After some deft plier manuevers we were able to reattach the bracket and put the lamp together. I would suggest putting the base as close to its final resting spot as possible before assembling - the lamp is a little awkward to move around the room, but once it's in place it's absolutely lovely.

I love my Nelson Lotus Floor Lamp! I consider it a spiritual event when I have it on! I turn it on immediately at dawn and dusk! I am so happy to have it next to my Eames Lounge and walnut stool!
