We have these lamps with the white shades on our bedside tables (Hudson in charcoal stain) in our bedroom, and loved them so much that, when we needed an accent lamp in our living room with a dark shade for contrast, we got this one, and it's perfect. The black shade provides a contrast to the ivory in the room and coordinates well with the charcoal stained Hudson end table with natural steel legs, and with the Parsons cocktail table with glass top and natural steel base. The shade turns grayish white, with the band at the top and bottom staying black, when the lamp is turned on. It's a practical, yet sculptural accent lamp.

We had been looking for a lamp for our side table in our living room for a long time. This one is exceptionally unique and was considerably cheaper than many others we were considering. The black shade actually looks more gray with the light off, and more white with the light on. Fantastic purchase!

We saw this at the store, decided on it once we got home and measured, then ordered online. After placing the order we decided we wanted it right away, so we called our local store and they transferred the purchase over and had it waiting for us at the front desk. Overall excellent service.
