Customer comments about Parsons 78x42 Dining Table/Desk:
Purchased the walnut top, parsons base table. 42" x 78". Beautiful. It sits perfectly in my dining room area and compliments the adjacent living room are which is also filled with Room&Board pieces. A few more purchases: chairs and rug, and my dining room will be set.
Service and delivery comments:
Delivery was prompt and courteous, product arrived in good condition and movers were in and out. Very efficient.

Customer comments about Parsons 60x36 Dining Table/Desk:
This table is the perfect size for our small office. Also purchased a linear cabinet from Room & Board which can be used to house office supplies, but also can be used as a buffet when we have a special meal and plan to use the room as a dining room. Love the flexibility of using it usually as an office, but can also be used as a dining area. Perfect! Also great that this furniture is made in Minnesota and Wisconsin--love that!!

Customer comments about Parsons 60x36 Dining Table/Desk:
I bought this table to be used in our eat-in kitchen. Love this table for its durability, quality and style. The reclaimed chestnut looks great and is a hard enough wood top to receive intense use at times by my two young children. I added a bench on one side, stools on the other side, and chairs on each end to accent the table. Without that many high-backed chairs, the table is able to show-off! Highly recommend this table for everyday use to eat and do crafts on. High quality base and love the fact that the top can be replaced by another at R&B. Only complaint is the cost of it is on the high end, but I guess "you get what you pay for!"

This beautiful contemporary and classic Parsons Table is perfect for our kitchen. The one chosen has a solid maple top and black steel legs and blends in well with the darker hard wood floors.

Customer comments about Parsons 72x36 Dining Table/Desk:
We got 10 natural cherry spindle dining room chairs years ago but never had the proper matching table for them. The Parsons table fits the bill beautifully. The natural cherry grain is lovely and will darken naturally with time as our chairs have. The steel finish of the frame and legs has a nice finish.
Service and delivery comments:
Perfect, friendly, speedy delivery with lots of proactive communication so we knew exactly when they would come. It didn't blow our whole day as delivery sometimes does.

Customer comments about Parsons 78x42 Dining Table/Desk:
The table is beautiful. Solid, contemporary and something that will be a center piece of our home for years to come. The only (small)slight flaw - 'tho perhaps not a flaw- but just a varience in the wood grain or coloration, is that the end pieces of the wood at either long end, are not uniform in color / the grain is greatly differing in color. It's noticable. But not so much as to ruin the entire look.

Customer comments about Parsons 72x36 Dining Table/Desk:
This is the first time we have had space for a real dining room table and it has become the central hub for everything from family dinner parties to informal quick sit downs during the week, to a great place to spread out with a laptop and finish up work at night.
The butcherblock top adds a lot of warmth and is beautiful and sturdy in its construction while the natural steel legs blend in with the rest of the steel furniture we have.

Q:
We have the Parsons Dining table with a walnut top. It has taken some abuse from the kids and the lacquer was damaged by rubber cement. I would like to refinish it myself at some point. Do you have specific recommendations for the type of lacquer to use?Asked on 6/11/2013 by Exhausted Dad from Washington, D.C.1 answer
DESIGN ASSOCIATE
A:
Any clear lacquer finish would do. Nitrocellulose lacquer is what is used on the solid wood tops.Answered on 6/11/2013 by Design Associate from Room & Board
Q:
Would it be possible to put casters on one of the standard sizes of Parsons Tables?Asked on 6/6/2013 by CasterQuestioner from Brooklyn NY1 answer

Room & Board offers a custom by the inch option for ordering the Parsons table collection with casters. http://www.roomandboard.com/rnb/customproduct/bytheinch/topandbase/detail.do?productGroupKey=CST_PARSONS_TAB_CASTERAnswered on 6/7/2013 by Design Associate from Room & Board
Q:
We would like to put our marble-topped Parsons Table outside under a covered terrace. We live in Southern California, so the climate is temperate year-round. What precautions should we take to preserve the piece?Asked on 5/27/2013 by RB from Los Angeles, CA1 answer
DESIGN ASSOCIATE
A:
While these are very durable pieces, they are not designed for outdoor use and we'd caution against leaving your Parsons Table with marble top outside, even covered. Our powder-coated Pratt base paired with a granite top would be a similar look and is better suited to weather the outdoor environment. We're happy to help with any further questions. 800.301.9720Answered on 5/29/2013 by Design Associate from Room & Board
Q:
Is the Cherry Butcherblock solid wood or is it a veneer?
Thank you!Asked on 5/26/2013 by Laura from United States1 answer

A:
Yes, this is a solid wood top at 1 1/4" thick.Answered on 5/26/2013 by Design Associate from Room & Board
Q:
How is the wood top attached to the base (or is it attached)? My question is if I order a maple stained wood top and years later if kids and normal wear ruin the top, can I remove and purchase a glass top for the original base and not have marks where the old wood top was attached?Asked on 5/25/2013 by Trying to find kid friendly furniture from Indianapolis, IN1 answer
DESIGN ASSOCIATE
A:
The base itself has holes predrilled so that the wood tops can be secured to the base. When a glass top is used we place black rubber bumpers over the holes and these provide the cushioned support for the top.
Yes, you can definitely change out the top in the future. I did this in the reverse order - glass first and when the kids were older we moved to a solid wood top. A solid wood top could also be refinished instead of replaced.Answered on 5/26/2013 by Design Associate from Room & Board
Q:
Can we put wet glasses on the solid cherry top without worry? Can we clean the table by using a wet sponge in order to get up table scraps? Our worry is that we will always have to utilize coasters/placemats/tablecloths which detracts from both the looks of the table and interferes with the use of it.Asked on 5/25/2013 by Modern furniture fan-likes Parson tables1 answer
DESIGN ASSOCIATE
A:
The wood tops are sealed with lacquer to prevent stains but yes, you'll want to use coasters and placemats and wipe up spills. The finish protects the wood and gives you time to get to spills but any moisture left on the surface will seep through to the wood. Cleaning with a damp sponge and wiping with a dry towel would be recommended. With some basic maintenance these tops are easy to live with.Answered on 5/25/2013 by Design Associate from Room & Board
Q:
Does the Parsons 96" dining table come with stainless frame?Asked on 5/19/2013 by John1 answer
DESIGN ASSOCIATE
A:
The Parsons collection is made in natural steel and does not have a stainless steel option. The Portica collection is the same design in stainless steel and also available in the 96" size.Answered on 5/19/2013 by Design Associate from Room & Board
Q:
We have an older ranch style home with galley kitchen that opens to dining room then large living area, and you have to walk through the dining room to get from one room to the other. I had a larger table but am changing the style of our home, so I sold it. The room is about 11x11. Basically, I'm wondering if the narrower table would be a better fit (other one was 42 in wide). I've been trying to decide between round or rectangular, too. Another queston has to do with style. We do not have modern decor, more eclectic to transitional. How would this look with parsons chairs to "demodernize" the look? I love the sleekness, but the house is mixed with family antiques and other pieces that I love.Asked on 5/18/2013 by In Transition1 answer
DESIGN ASSOCIATE
A:
Here are some additional dimensions to consider as you plan your space - you'll want at least 24" from the edge of each side to use for getting in and out of chairs and about 24" in width for each chair/diner. A 42" width seems like it might work if you have 11'. Rectangular tables are functional as the space on the corners really give you more room for serving pieces and some extra elbow room.
The natural steel finish on the Parsons gives it a classic, not too modern look and pairing the table with a classic, wood chair would build on that. Consider the Afton or the Thatcher chairs.
We definitely believe in mixing materials, finishes and finding new pieces that work with your own, special items. Let us know if you have more design questions.Answered on 5/18/2013 by Design Associate from Room & Board
Q:
With the glass top, is it firmly attached to the base?Asked on 5/17/2013 by Looking for dining table from Reno1 answer

A:
The glass and stone tops rest on the base. lining up with the edge of the table and the weight of the top keeps it in place.Answered on 5/18/2013 by Design Associate from Room & Board

Q:
What size parsons table would fit well in a dining room that is 11.5 feet by 12 feet with a door that swings in by 3 feet and reduces the length of the room to 8.5 feet by 12 feet?
Thank you!Asked on 4/25/2013 by Karandash1 answer
DESIGN ASSOCIATE
A:
Here are some additional dimensions to consider ...
24" of width is recommended for each person around the table
18-24" is needed from the edge of the table to get in and out of a chair
In addition you want almost 3' around the edge of the table for traffic and maneuvering, but some of that could include the space for getting in and out of the chair.
For you, a 36x60 table might be right and is most comfortable with 4 (sometimes 6) around the table. The 36x72 can comfortably seat 6. Maybe the 42x78. Measure your space to see how each feels. The great thing about the Parsons style with the legs at the corner is that you maximize the space along the sides. It also can be custom ordered By the Inch. Search Parsons to see this option towards the bottom of the page.Answered on 4/26/2013 by Design Associate from Room & Board
