We needed to upgrade from a Pottery Barn kid's table that was serving as my son's desk. His room opens to the living room so I wanted clean, simple lines with a finish that would complement our Brazilian Cherry hardwood floors and Asian-look armoires. His room is quite small but he wanted a deeper desk than our home office's have (24"). The 30" depth is great, with plenty of room for a lamp, iPad, iphone/alarm clock, books, lego pieces and laptop. Because of the simple, open lines, it does not overpower the room. He selected the butcher block cherry top since it was not as expensive as the solid cherry. He didn't like the frosted glass which was my first choice (too cold). I bought a writing pad to protect the wood, just in case. It's a beautiful piece, solid quality.

I gave my son my Sayl chair to go with the Parsons desk, and went back to my smaller chair with no arm rests. It was driving me nuts having the arm rests hit my wood desk. The Sayl armrests still hit the desk right between the metal frame and the wood top but it's not an issue for my son since he sits further back than I do. The open Sayl looks great with the desk.

I just wrote a very detailed review, which disappeared when I went to add my photo, so I will just say that 1) Room & Board is one of very few retailers that offers dining tables in this size or similar (48x30) 2) The white glass is not solid white like milk glass as I expected, and looks greenish from certain angles 3) the Venatino marble I got as a replacement for the white glass is gorgeous.

I was very hesitant about dropping a grand on a desk, but this was literally the only desk that I could find that fit my criteria. I wanted something that was incredibly minimal, and the Parsons style desk is exactly that. I wanted the desk to be completely free of shelving to help eliminate clutter, and to help myself remove the "things" that I had taking up space in my old desk.

The desk I purchased is the 48 x 24 Console Table / Desk, with reclaimed chestnut. I did not request a material sample, so I was a little worried when I saw just how rough the wood is. It is finished fine, but it has knots, nail holes, and other imperfections that will definitely hinder writing. I am fine with this, but it was a little bit of a surprise. The steel frame of the desk is very well made, and the slab of chestnut is thick and beautifully colored. I am a sucker for wood and metal. The materials feel top notch; I literally run my hands over the surfaces all the time while I am sitting at the desk.

This desk does wobble. I had to fold up a piece of cardboard under the front right leg to avoid the wobbling, but its not a huge deal. I do, however, feel that for the cost of this desk, wobbling is NOT to be expected.

I also purchased the wire-running doodads that Room & Board offers, and the result is an incredibly minimalistic, beautiful, nearly wire free work space. I absolutely love it. Although most people call me crazy for spending this money on the desk, I am certain I will have this thing for many, many years.

This desk is really beautiful. We got it with the solid walnut finish. Its very sturdy and well built. Its already taking a little ware, but it does so very nicely because its solid wood. Its made our den super warm and cozy :)

The parson desk (steel legs, frosted glass top) works perfectly in our study. It's got an industrial feel that works well with an urban eclectic collection of new and refurbished furniture. And it's a great size. The desk accommodates a large monitor and professional-grade photograph printer, and there is still room to write comfortably. The desk is solidly constructed and stands its ground firmly.

The only downside was a small one. Delivery guys left fingerprints on the underside and told me they'd come right off; then they beat a hasty retreat. It took two of us to lift the heavy glass and a spare hand to wipe off the prints with a wet cloth. A single person could not have dealt with the problem. But now that it's resolved, the table looks great. The top wipes clean without any trouble; we keep our fingers away from the underside.

I have been looking for this desk for years! I have had it almost 9 months now and it is great, finish is glossing up a bit where my arms always lay / sit. But it is string, stable and the maple is absolutely beautiful!

I love Room & Board furniture to start with ... this is the tenth piece of furniture I've purchased. The delivery experience was outstanding. The guys made a "late night" after ten PM drop to fit our schedule ... how good is that. Great company ... great products ... wonderful service
