This is a great lamp. I was very hesitant to spend this much on a lamp but got it on sale which helped. It is a great reading lamp and so easy to adjust to any position. The bottom is very heavy so I don't have to worry about accidentally knocking it off the nightstand.

I purchased the Mini Tolomeo lamp in black and chrome for my home office after viewing it in the NYC showroom. It arrived well packaged in 2 boxes. It was easy to assemble - you only had to insert the stem into the base and tighten a screw. It also came with a bulb, which was nice. Unfortunately when I switched it on, it did not work! I tried changing the bulb, but it still did not work. After wiggling the bulb, it came on then went off! Customer service was good, because I had something else on order they just bought a replacement with that order, then took the broken one back. So now the second bad news - the replacement lamp did not work either! The delivery man tried with no luck - same thing as the first, it came on, then turned off. I decided not to try a third time and got a refund very quickly. I ended up buying the Lampe Gras 205 from [@]- it worked first time :-)Overall my experience with R&B has been great - perhaps a faulty batch of Tolomeo lamps?

I use the lamp for reading. It goes so well with other things we've purchased from R&B such as the York sofa, sloane chairs, classic coffee table and woodwind open bookcases in walnut.

This lamp comes with bulb but it is soft white. I have to buy new bulb as I prefer day light. Wish come with day ligth blub,, but it is just personal preference. Otherwise it is great task lamp.

This lamp has a sculptural quality that goes beyond a traditional desk or task light. I have purchased 3 for various uses over the past 10 years, and very happy with each one. It's beautiful in each setting. The watts I use range from 60 to 100 watts, and the mighty Tolomeo accommodates them all. Highest recommendation for beauty and functionality.

I know Tolomeo, having earlier bought a floor lamp which was utterly reliable and elegant in a post-modern way. I bought the present desk-lamp after some hesitation, having unexpectedly caught sight of it during a visit to Room & Board: it seemed to fit my needs - utilitarian and aesthetic - perfectly.

I took the lamp home & tried to assemble it - usually very easy. One nut, provided, did not fit. I called the store. A very smart & thoughtful person from the supply-room sent another nut: it was exactly the same. I took the lamp back to the store: a thoroughly considerate & thoughtful salesman, very surprised, found another example of the same lamp, whose nut did fit. I returned home with the lamp I had wanted, having encountered some unnecessary waste of time and attention.

When my decorator first showed me this lamp I though, "hmmm....interesting, but expensive. I could get this look for less." But, she convinced me to try them and we ordered two.

So easy to put together that one of my teens did it, and it looked great on the desk over our computer. The light it provided was perfect, so perfect that we ended up buying an end table, specifically to accomodate the other lamp so it could be used with a settee for reading, knitting, what not.

I'm a convert -- worth every last penny, and highly recommended!

This lamp sits on my son's desk where he uses it to study by. The desk is by his bed where the lamp swings over and is a light over his bed, perfect!
