The finish changes color over time. I've had mine about 2 years, and the places where I have the books in noticeably lighter the the portion of the shelf that is free. In fact, now there is a book outline permanently on the shelf. Very disappointing an item of this price.

I was really impressed with the quality of these shelves. The wood is first class. I bought three and grouped them together. The result looks very much like a built in unit but with much higher quality than previous built ins I've had.

We have lots and lots of books so we bought two 32x12x86 and one 20x12x86 bookcases in cherry. These cases cover an entire wall in our living room, and they are filled with books. The shelves have not shown any sign of warping after 10 months of continued use. We also like the rich warm color that has developed over this time. Our only complain is that the hinges for the doors are huge, making it difficult to store big hardcover books inside the cabinets.
Service and delivery comments:
One of the shelves arrived with a deep dent across the grain, so we called service. Service was polite and helpful and promptly replaced the damaged shelf, although we had to drive to the distribution center to get it. With this experience, we are more confident in buying Room and Board furniture in the future.

This was the perfect bookcase for my condo. The 86 inch height enables you to pack a lot of shelf into a small room. I especially like the solid hardwood construction and simple design. I packed my bookcase from top to bottom with heavy art and photo books, and it remains stable and sturdy.
