After much research, I settled on the woodwind custom line which offers the flexibility of choosing your configuration and sizes. The center unit is deeper with 2 file drawers and 2 doors on top with shelves in the middle. The left and right side units are 12 inches deep, each with a door on the bottom and shelves above. I am very pleased with the construction. I also think that the combination of deeper and shallower depths worked out just fine. I am also pleased with the charcoal color which pops on the apple green wall.

This 15" deep bookcase fits large books and shelf organizers. No wimpy, tip-over case here. Very solid construction - it took two big men to bring this upstairs. Drawers are roomy and extend fully - an added bonus I wasn't expecting. There are levelers on the bottom of the bookcase, helpful if you are placing it on carpet or an uneven floor. The delivery crew were very careful and pleasant. Only one problem: There weren't enough of the small metal pins that hold the adjustable shelves in place. One quick phone call, and the missing pins were mailed right out to me. Both the bookcase and the service were exceptional.

If you are planning to have two or more of these side-by-side, be sure to understand that they will not sit flush against each other because of a small overhang on the top piece.
My new units were positioned touching on the bottom but there is a gap between them that grows to 1/4" towards the top. I consider this a major design flaw for units that are marketed as able to be stacked up against each other.
Considering how much money I spent on these, I am very disappointed. If you blow up the photos showing them side-by-side you can see the gap, but you really have to be looking for it.

We purchased two of these units, to use as a book case, as well as storage in the cabinets below. We also use some of the shelves for displaying framed photos and sculpture! In our house the units were placed one on either side of the media console/media hutch. But now in our condo, we have these two units side by side and they look great!!

We bought three of these for a wall of storage -- they look like one contiguous piece and anchor the room beautifully. The cabinets (with really nice sturdy hinges) hide the messy stuff and the shelves are great for display and books. Another great R&B purchase for our home.

We use this piece in the living room - natural wood looks very nice, and it has helped us to dramatically reduce clutter. The look is simple, contemporary, understated.
The lower cabinets is a great place to stash toys or other items so that they are not visible. The lower shelves are excellent for books - deep enough but not too deep. The higher shelves can hold more books, or photos, etc.
Overall, it holds a ton, looks nice, and yet is not that big. Would definitely buy it again.
