Customer comments about Calvin King Bed:
After years of having a Queen sized bed, we decided to purchase a King. It was an impulse purchase and I was worried I would regret it but after receiving the bed, we couldn't be happier. The bed is and wood is beautiful and we get lots of compliments. Will be refurnishing the rest of the room now.

Customer comments about Calvin Queen Bed:
I have owned the Calvin Bed for about 2 years now. I have absolutely no complaints about this bed! I love it! It's hard to find this kind of quality furniture anywhere else. We have a tempur pedic mattress on it and it fits perfectly. We also don't have any problems with a squeaky bed nor scratches. I love Room & Board's quality of furniture and I plan on buying more in the future!

We got the queen bed in the gray color. It is a sturdy bed frame, fits the mattress well, and is very comfortable for sitting up and reading. Would recommend.

Customer comments about Calvin Queen Bed:
Love this bed, but be patient when assembling it. It was quite tricky to get the pieces to lock into place properly. Also, get a Bucky board (thin, under-mattress)..making the bed is way easier than simply plopping a mattress into the frame. Minor comments..overall, a beautiful rock-solid bed!

Customer comments about Calvin King Bed:
The bed frame is solid, and I mean solid. There is nary a wiggle or a squeak when getting in and out and we love the fact that there are no more box springs.
We love the low foot board ... it allows us to dangle out feet off the edge of the bed while we sleep if we choose, but it still adds style to the room and doesn't get in the way when making the bed.
Our mattress seems a bit narrow for this frame as we can see the metal slats when the bed is not made up. We don't find it to be an inconvenience, but it is something that we didn't expect.

Customer comments about Calvin Queen Bed:
We love the look of this bed. It has very clean lines and the grey color is great, especially if you already have wood pieces in your bedroom--it stops the room from looking to matchy, matchy.
Once in it, it's very sturdy but it does occasionally squeak when you get in/out of it. I'm not sure if it'll work itself out, but it's been at least month and it still sometimes squeaks...

Q:
I am interested in the Calvin bed in mocha stain. I have wenge color wood in my bedroom and would like to keep. Is the gray easier to match with variations in wood color?Asked on 6/9/2013 by Lil from NJ1 answer
DESIGN ASSOCIATE
A:
The wenge color is typically very dark and close to black so several of the finishes could work well with the wenge. If you preferred to match finishes the charcoal would be closer than the mocha. The shell would be a beautiful, lighter complement to the wenge.
We offer sample cards so you can consider the finishes in your space. http://www.roomandboard.com/rnb/swatchlist/list.doAnswered on 6/9/2013 by Design Associate from Room & Board

Q:
Can this bed use a box spring and mattress without the box spring showing?Asked on 6/4/2013 by Lisa1 answer
DESIGN ASSOCIATE
A:
Unless you have a very low profile style, you would see most of your box spring and the overall height would also hide most of the headboard. The side rail and platform is designed for the height of a mattress only. On the product page, check out the additional images under the main image. The last shot shows the slats, so you can see where the box spring would sit inside the frame.Answered on 6/4/2013 by Design Associate from Room & Board

Q:
Hi,
Is this bed made of solid maple or is it multi-ply hardwood?Asked on 6/3/2013 by nychome1 answer
DESIGN ASSOCIATE
A:
The Calvin bed frame is made of solid pacific coast maple. This bed includes 12 natural steel slats.Answered on 6/3/2013 by Design Associate from Room & Board

Q:
Can this bed be disassembled for moving after the initial set up?Asked on 5/31/2013 by Jess1 answer
DESIGN ASSOCIATE
A:
Yes, the Calvin bed can be disassembled. The side rails separate from the headboard and footboard. We have the assembly instructions available on our website for reference:http://www.roomandboard.com/rnb/ideas_advice/product_instructions/assembly_instructions.ftl?x=calvin_bedAnswered on 5/31/2013 by Design Associate from Room & Board

Q:
Is the headboard narrower than the width of the bed? It appears that way in the photos. It turns out I am looking for a narrower headboard.Asked on 5/27/2013 by Need a Bigger Bed! from Dayton, OH1 answer
DESIGN ASSOCIATE
A:
The headboard comes right to the edge of the legs and side rails, so it is the full width of the bed. The last image in our image set (below the main image) shows this detail. All of our beds are a full frame vs. a headboard only and all have headboards that are the full width of the bed. Let us know if you have further questions.Answered on 5/27/2013 by Design Associate from Room & Board

Q:
This bed looks good. Can this be used together with a memory foam mattress, without any foundation?Asked on 5/8/2013 by bguy from Cambridge, MA1 answer
DESIGN ASSOCIATE
A:
Our Calvin bed is a great choice. The steel slat support system will support a memory foam mattress with a solid bottom. If your mattress is all foam, you can add a Room&Board Platform Board to provide a solid surface over the slats.Answered on 5/9/2013 by Design Associate from Room & Board
