We bought this cocktail table for our family room, and it has made life so much easier. The large surface makes it ideal for serving snacks or drinks, the shelf underneath is so handy for storing coasters, remotes, etc., and the drawers on both sides keep DVDs or cords stored out of sight but within easy reach. The charcoal stain is gorgeous, a rich matt finish in a color which goes with espresso, black, or natural steel furnishings. We got it with the natural steel knobs, which add a little texture to the table without being too busy. The design is clean and modern, yet timeless and traditional; this table will not date. This is a beautiful and practical table.

I bought this and the matching side tables because we wanted some matching furniture and more importantly, we needed some more storage to hide clutter. These pieces have worked out great and look good. We bought the walnut finishes. However, my main complaint is that the bottom surfaces (such as in the open cubby area) are not finished. For the high price of these pieces, relatively speaking, and the extra cost for the walnut finish, I would expect more attention to detail.
I also found the veneer quality a bit lacking. It's decent, but it's no match compared to the quality of, say, my Eames Walnut stools in my home office. So I was a bit disappointed by that.
Overall I'd give these pieces a solid B+. Despite my complaints, they are a good bargain and the construction is very very solid--these are heavy and sturdy pieces. I expect that they will be the last coffee and side tables we ever buy.
