I am a recent first-time purchaser at Room & Board. We were very excited to receive our new Gannon sleeper sofa, and it looked great in our living room -- at first. After just a few hours, I noticed that whenever anyone sits on the sofa, these large tuck-in cylinders (they are meant to keep the back cushion in) come out. The result is very unsightly. I end up tucking the cylinders back in 2-3 times a day, just to have them out most of the time when I am not keeping an eagle eye on it. This sofa is the centerpiece of our living room and its back is visible from the front door. I hate that this is the first thing I see - and anyone else sees -- upon coming into the house.

I sent word of this problem -- with photos -- to Room & Board and the company sent someone out to look at the sofa. The representative arrived, but said he could not do anything about the sofa because that's just how it is designed.

At these prices, I would expect much more from Room & Board. I am surprised that this shoddy design could get past the company's QA. It makes me distrust Room & Board in general. I regret the purchase deeply, but the sleeper sofa was too expensive an item for us to replace it so soon. I tell all friends and guests about this problem with Room & Board -- and they see it for themselves as soon as they come to the house. I have never written a review before for any product on any website, but felt the need to write one here to spread the warning further.

We were really excited to purchase this sleeper. We had tried a similar couch in the store (they didn't have the Gannon on display), but chose this because of the wider arms. Unfortunately, this is probably the worst furniture purchase we've ever made.

The seat cushions bow outwards, and extend over the edge of the foundation very easily. The seams in between the cushions are weak, meaning unless you're sitting smack dab in the center of the cushion, you're going to be leaning left or right. The back cushions also slide down way too easily to be comfortable. If we had to do it again, we definitely would've gone with another choice.

The Gannon - in my opinion - is by far the most modern of the sleeper sofas available at Room & Board. I shopped around in a LOT of places, and found that Room & Board had 3 major advantages:
1) The comfort of the foam-type mattress is unparalleled. You avoid the rickety & squeaky springs that make noise and give your guests and awful night's sleep. Some of my guests are family members getting up there in age, with bad backs, and the comfort sleeper has a smooth & solid mattress that feels like an actual bed. No contest.
2) The fabrics you can customize it in are also unmatched - some fabulous choices. I settled on a wonderful belgian linen I probably wouldn't have gotten elsewhere.
3) The Gannon is a really spacious, powerful-looking sofa. Meaty & solid. It looks much more 'grown-up' than some of the sofas that are quite lovely, but could still be in a student apartment.

The downside? Price! It's very expensive...and if you customize it with a fabrice that adds cost, watch the price go up even more. I paid over twice as much as I would have for my runner-up option. I am very pleased with my purchase, though. If you budget can withstand it, go for it!
