Part of the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art, these sculptural pendant lamps are designed by George Nelson. Instant icons of mid-century modernism when introduced in 1947, they are constructed of a steel wire frame and covered with translucent plastic, emitting a soft, even light.

- Nelson Lantern Pendant
Q:Do you think 2 of these pendants would fit over a kitchen island that is 70" long and 36" wide? I am asking from a design point of view rather than a functionality standpoint. I have the saucer pendant in the dining room and these would be a good complement, but I'm not sure if they're meant to be used in this way.Asked on 7/21/2013 by Good Shopper from Los Angeles, CA
A:Two pendants over a 70" island would be great; almost required for that length so you don't get a single bright spot in the middle. We don't sell islands so I can't reference any images for you but you'll see pendants in twos and threes magazine images of kitchens.Answered on 7/21/2013 by Design Associate from Room & Board
