Customer comments about Mario 80" Convertible Sofa:

We use this sofa in our office/guestroom where we often watch tv. I wanted a comfortable sleeper sofa that didn't take up too much space in our cramped room, and this one is almost there. When we first got it I set it up with a thin egg crate foam plus a feather topper to test if I could make it comfortable for my picky mom who will be visiting soon (the seat and back become the bed and are made of fairly firm foam). It was so comfortable I fell asleep on it two nights in a row and was sorry to set it back up as a sofa. It's also great that it takes up no more space than the size of the bed (a queen in our case) as the back becomes part of the bed and it has no real arms.

My issue is with using it as a sofa. The "arms" are two loose cushions about 3" or 4" high, whereas a proper arm should be about 8" from the top of the seat. I knew this going in so paid a pretty penny for some very nice comfy big throw pillows to use in lieu of a proper arm. It's loungey but not supportive. And the cushions slide off if you like to lean against them a lot,as they're not attached.

Also, as the foam is pretty firm you don't sink into it as you would regular sofa seat cushions. On a regular sofa the seat may also angle slightly down toward the back so you really feel like you are settling in. On this sofa the seat is very flat and firm which ends up feeling like you will slide forward out of the seat. It's very difficult to feel like you can really settle in to watch a movie for example.

Overall, I would give it a C+ for comfort as a sofa and a B- as a sleeper, unless you add foam and feather toppers as we did in which case it's really up to you to customize it to your comfort. I give it an A for styling. Modern but fits in to most environments. B- for quality (the seat component falls off its channel every time we set it up as a sleeper). My final thought is that in hindsight, I wish I had paid the extra $200-300 dollars for a fabric upgrade because the in-stock fabric we went with (the charcoal microfibre) shows every cat and dog hair that lands on it. It's nice looking and soft though, so our plan is to keep the seat covered with a throw blanket until guests arrive.

I would recommend this sofa for a guest room for occasional use as a sofa or sleeper.

      Q:

From the photo, it appear that you can see screws on the frame of the sofa (front left by left leg). Is that the case? Or are the screws somehow covered more like the Elke?
