Birdseye maple is undeniably beautiful. But its fine, even grain contains the true magic. The maple is extremely dense and hard, making it resistant to knife marks. And that's what makes it perfect for these cutting trays, crafted by artist Ed Wohl in a southwestern Wisconsin workshop. They're handmade from custom-matched sections of a single piece of wood, giving every board a one-of-kind appearance. These cutting trays could be displayed as art, yet they're designed to provide many years of use with minimal care.
