We ordered two of these chairs online. They are very comfortable and great for what we wanted. Better than that, the customer service is outstanding. They called to schedule delivery; then called the day before to confirm and give us a two hour window; then actually made the window! We had a question about the fabric on the arms; Lisa took our call immediately, we sent photos, she got back to us the same day. It turns out there was nothing wrong, just the fabric was pushed down from the wrapping job and it's fine now. But, she would have been glad to pick them up and replace them. Very good customer service.

My husband and I searched all over for a modern looking rocking chair/glider for our nursery and kept coming back to the Shay Swivel Glider. The design was simple and the colors had just enough pop (we ended up choosing the teal). The price was also very reasonable compared to other modern, well-made gliders on the market (actually the least expensive after considering delivery fees).
We were not able to physically sit in the chair before we bought it, but are very happy with the dimensions, design, comfort and feel of fabric. The chair is supportive and will hopefully be great for nursing (I don't know if I would want to sleep in the chair - a little too supportive for that). I am 5'8" and my husband is 6'2" - we both find the chair comfortably, although he cannot rest his head back.
The fabric is soft and hopefully we clean up well (baby hasn't arrived so don't have any spills yet).
Overall, I am happy with the chair and can't wait to glide with baby in a few weeks.

Service and delivery comments:

Delivery was made at the beginning of the two hour time frame. Product was in good condition. Customer service was great about returning e-mails and checking in on us to make sure we got the shipment.

We like this chair so much we bought two. They about swivel and glide me to sleep as soon as I sit down. I think most people get them for babies' rooms but we have them in a sort of a lounge set up by our fireplace. We have a big open space where our kitchen, living, dining and TV areas are connected. The chairs are easily repositioned to face the TV, the fire, the kitchen to visit with the chef, or the window overlooking the park. They are very comfortable and they look great too. I think they look and feel better with pillows at the back. My husband is tall and doesn't need them but I usually prefer having them. I ordered some custom 21" square box pillows for each and a 13x20 knife edge for my lower back (in different colors). They look and feel great.

I love everything about this chair, and it is working perfectly in our nursery. What's best is the fact that its design is just as attractive as it is comfortable, and I plan to move it to another room of the house when our daughter gets a bit older. I know from experience with other R&B purchases that it will be durable enough to last for many years, so we'll have this piece for a long time.

The only con about this purchase was the waiting time. We ordered our chair in the teal colored stock fabric, and we were under the impression that it would be readily available, but there was almost a one month wait.

This is the perfect chair for nursing! It rocks smoothly and it's nice and comfy. It's wide enough that I can sit with one leg tucked beside me. I've even fallen asleep in it. My husband and I were trying to convince ourselves that we didn't need a glider for a long time but we caved when our son was 5 months and I'm so glad we did. We got the navy velvet and it is beautiful, and spot cleans nicely.

We selected this glider for our daughter's nursery and couldn't be more satisfied. We love the modern design and the fact that it doesn't look "too nursery/baby" - a great piece of furniture that we'll be able to move to another room once its nursery function is over.

Right now I use it predominantly for nursing and relaxing with our newborn. It's gotten spit up on it (we got it in Vance Velvet) and the salesperson at R&B recommended using a baby wipe to clean it, but I've found a damp cloth does just fine. Hasn't left any noticeable stains, but just make sure you wipe it up quickly so stains don't set.

We've only had the glider for a couple months, but so far no creaking like some other reviewers have mentioned.

I sat in more gliders during our nursery planning process than I care to admit and literally sat in this one on 3 different occasions just to make sure it was "the one" since it was such a big purchase and not returnable. I do think the seat is a little deeper than most of the gliders we sat in. I'm 5'5" and recommend putting a lumbar/rectangular shaped pillow behind your back. If you're purchasing this for a nursery, I also recommend testing it out before your belly gets too big since it will feel different at each stage of your pregnancy.

All in all we couldn't be happier! We also got the gliding ottoman with it which I highly recommend.

I honestly love this chair. I bought it for my baby son and it is perfect for rocking and reading bedtime stories. My son also loves it, he gets very relaxed before bed. It is very good looking and fits beautifully in his small bedroom.
I would also like to mention the delivery men were great. They couldn't get their big truck down my little street with large trees so they had to carry the chair a few blocks to my house. They were so nice about it and so professional.

I originally wrote a review describing how long it took to receive my chair after the one I got was damaged. I spoke to customer service on the phone today (my new chair came this week and looked perfect) and they rectified the situation of the delayed delivery. I am a super satisfied customer now and will be ordering from Room and Board in the future.

Love this chair. Fabric color is beautiful, and it's very soft but sturdy. Looking forward to rocking and feeding my baby in this chair in just a few short weeks.
