Summary

Description

Hand-selected for the best quality and color, our Brazilian cowhide rugs add one-of-a-kind design to your room. Unlike many other hides, ours are heavy enough to lay flat without curling edges, and each is finished with high-quality tanning methods to give every hide a clean and soft feel. Natural hide rugs are remarkably resistant to stains and work well in high-traffic areas.

Customer comments about Natural Cowhide Rug:

Before ordering this rug I had read the review that stated that the rug had a terrible smell. I called the Room and Board in NYC and that informed me that they had the rugs in the show room and had never noticed a bad smell. I also called Room and Board at their 800 number and they were not aware of any reports that the rug had a bad smell.

When the rug arrived and I removed it from the package the bad oder was noticeable right away. It really did smell like a skunk. Even after resealing the rug in the plastic bag and box it took hours before the smell went away.

It really was a beautiful hide rug and I have always been very happy with my purchases from Room and Board but this time was a big disappointment.

I love everything about this cowhide rug, but after six weeks, the horrible smell just isn't dissipating.

          A:

Vacuuming with a medium height setting on the brush and, if possible, an occasional shaking to remove dust will maintain the natural characteristics of this product. Liquid substances will rarely penetrate the hide. Instead, most spills float above the hair long enough to be easily wiped with a moist sponge. With substantial foot traffic, some areas may thin over time and rotating the rug is recommended.

      • Q:

does this cow hide rug require a rug pad and I've read on other "hide" rugs that some dyes transfer on to the floor. Could this be an issue?

          A:

We do recommend using rug pads with all of our rugs, including Cowhide. The Cowhide rugs are all free of dyes. If you have additional questions, please contact our Design Associates at 800-301-9720.
