Good quality construction. The sales person told us the finish would darken, which it has--though be careful! We had left a newspaper on the table when gone on vacation for 2 weeks and the part under that did not darken like the rest--it is catching up now, but can still see where it had been sitting. So, don't leave anything on the table permanently during the first few months of use.

I fell in love with this table the minute I saw it so I read reviews about it. Everyone who owns theirs loves it--but--the wood is delicate as well as the finish. Perhaps I am used to having a table with a hardier finish, but another reviewer wrote about making sure not to put anything too warm on the table or it will leave a mark. I used coasters and hotplates for everything I put on the table, but the moisture of the heat went through on one of them and left a moisture mark. It is not noticeable when looking at the table from above, but if the light catches it, you can see it.
I recommend to anyone purchasing this beautiful table to get a piece of clear glass to go over the top. I have found myself wiping the table down due to the oil from one's hand, etc. To relieve the stress of worrying about the finish I've decided to get a glass top. Sadly R&B does not sell them.

I will say, if you are looking for a classic sleek look, this table is perfect. I truly do love it and the chairs are perfect with it. I got the cinnamon colored fabric and it is a great combination with the dark wood.

I bought the 72" Adams table in Walnut. The scale and proportions are wonderful - we have a chair at each end and 2 on each side. The edge is nice and is one of the distinguishing features from the typical "box stores" with similar style. In my opinion, the extra cost for the walnut finish is well worth it - the wood is gorgeous and has such an elegant and rich look.
My one caveat would be to note that the finish is sensitive as it is not a lacquer or polyurethane finish. I would recommend this for a formal room with infrequent use - it's gorgeous and definitely a statement piece but not an everyday type of table - unless you're okay with scratches and scuff markers for character. At this price - I doubt most are.

Nice table but by my mistake it ended up being too small for the space; and I actually found that it would have been too narrow as well. I do however appreciate the option of getting a custom size without costing an arm and a leg.

All aspects of R&B delivery are great - reasonable delivery, prompt, professional and friendly staff (guys on the road as well as the guys in the warehouse). The chairs and dining table arrived as promised, but the table, as it turned out was not the right fit for the room. Happily R&B was very accomodating about picking it up, etc. It is this kind of service that will bring me back to R&B for my home furnishing needs.

This is a beautiful table. It has clean, very elegant and delicate lines, yet is a very sturdy table. I have the table in Walnut and the color is warm and rich. Per other reviewers' comments, I have taken great care to use placemats, tablecloths, etc. when using the table to prevent any scratches. I was debating getting this table or the Adams extension table (to use the extenions only if/when I had a larger dinner party) and my sales associate wisely recommended that I go with the 72" table. Since the leaves would be stored most of the time, he told me that the color does change when exposed to sunlight, and the leaves wouldn't match the table (over time) since they would only be used once in a while. Great advice, and I'm very happy with the 72". Six fit comfortably, and I've had eight fit around the table when necessary. The design goes with my mix of furniture and I think this would work with a lot of styles. I love it!

Perfect fit for the dining area in my condo. The wood finish is gorgeous. The design is timeless. The surface finish is delicate so I had a piece of clear tabletop glass made. Now I can enjoy the beauty of the table and stop stressing about watermarks or scratches. It would be great if R&B offered tabletop glass as an option for its wood pieces that don't have a durable surface coating.

I use this table in a very small living room. It doesn't overwhelm the room at all. Rather, it is elegant enough for entertaining, while being practical enough for everyday use.
The only downside to this piece is the sensitive finish. It got a scratch quite early on and it will be difficult, and expensive, to get it out.
