When the lamp is on you can see the light bulb through the shade! Totally takes away from the lamp. Also when then the lamp is on the bronze shade looks more like silver. So to sum the lamp only looks good during the day.

This lamp is a beautiful thing. The color of the shade both inside and out is unique and gorgeous. When sitting under the lamp (which is HUGE and takes some getting used to) the light never shines into your eyes. The silver on the interior of the shade somehow makes it very easy on the eyes - esp. when compared with the usual white. Had some difficulty getting the shade level which given its size is essential. That said, we love this lamp.

I bought this lamp for my office I am a family therapist. I love the lamp, although it doesn't throw a lot of light. The only problem was when the guys delivered it and assembled it, they put the shade on upside down. The bulb stuck out the top. It didn't occur to me for about a month that it was on upside down. I quickly changed it. I love this lamp, and my clients do as well.

Currently in my bedroom but soon to migrate to den. It is oversized which has a certain drama and it looks very contemporary. The transparency of the shade makes the lightbulb too visible. While this is an intentional design effect, it doesn't work as well in my home as it did in the store. The slant is also a nice design element but it doesn't translate easily into a city apt. It is just too big. I would buy this again but for a different environment -- a loft, for example.

The components of this piece for me that make it elegant are:
-simplicity
-clean lines
-asymmetrical line

My girlfriend loved the first one I bought so much she wanted another on the other side of the living room. It lights up the room with a nice warm glow and the dimmer helps set different moods. The more we look at it, the more we appreciate the accomplishment in its design.

[...], assembly was easy, etc. Except the thing is crooked. It's not the shade the actual base leans. There is no way to "adjust" for this. Either way I still do not care for this lamp. It looks great from about 1 angle, outside of that it looks busy and out of place. Returning today.

Bold yet simple, the lamp can be a focal point of a room or disappear into the background. It's size makes it a presence in any room - as it is about the width/height as an adult.

With the bronze shade it commands a presence during the day yet becomes less noticeable when lit. At 'full bright' the room is awash with light and one can create a different mood with a simple adjustment of the in-line dimmer.

I love this lamp because it gives the right amount of lighting over our Room & Board sectional when needed as well as giving beautiful accent lighting.

Service and delivery comments:

I saw this lamp on the Room and Board website as soon as it came out. Our delivery was very prompt; we had it in our home before it was actually on display at the store. Knowing the quality of all our other Room & Board pieces, I knew it would be a great piece and it is.
