Q:
I'm wondering about the durability/finish/seal on the cherry butcher block table surface. We are planning to use this table as our family's primary dining table and have two little kids, which equals LOTS of spills and messes. Is the surface sealed nicely where it won't be immediately stained by a food or drink spill or is it quite porous and open to stains? We love the style of the Parsons table and like the look of the butcher block, but would choose a different tabletop if it would be easier to keep clean.Asked on 5/8/2013 by Kim from Minneapolis1 answer

A:
The Butcherblock tops are sealed with a lacquer finish. While the lacquer finish is there to protect the wood surface, lacquer is not impervious to scratching or dents. Most durable top surface would be granite.
