The energy efficient bulb provided was too tall causing the shade to be crooked. A standard incandescent bulb works well.

The quality on this lamp was very poor overall, and I returned it. It came dirty, and the harp was bent so the shade would not sit level. Additionally, the bulb that was sent didn't fit into the socket unless I completely removed the harp. I wish I had read existing reviews -- I wouldn't have purchased it.

I have no problem with the bottom scratching my furniture, because I pick up, rather than scoot, any item on my furniture. However, this lamp is very difficult to unpack, with the inner box being glued into the larger packing box, its top at a different angle from the outer box's top, so that you can't get to the top of the inner box to slit it open, but must tear open the outer box for access. Not much of an issue if you order just one, but I ordered 3---one white for my living room and two clear for my bedroom. I ordered the two clear ones in January, was sent one white one by mistake, and, on March 10, am still waiting for the correct clear one. Service by R&B usually good, and a representative has been in contact with me several times, but two months is a long time to wait!

Very nice design!goes well in my living room with extra lighting features. Since the base of the lamp is made of glass, I wished that it has a felt cover in the bottom rim so the base doesn't scratch the wood or glass surface of the table when handling.

I love the way this lamp looks. The ONLY things that I have to criticize are:
1) The taller energy efficient bulb that comes with it is too large for the bulb area, which means when you screw on the shade it is lopsided. To fix that, I just put a little piece of folded paper between the screwcap and the screw base to level it off
2) The bottom of the glass is a little bit rough, which I noticed because it scratched my brand new Room and Board end table!
