Customer comments about Mackintosh King Low Footboard Bed:

The bed was set up in about 3 minutes, shockingly fast, by the delivery people. The design is simple and straightforward which facilitates set up. It looks exactly as it does on the web site. The support people were very communicative and helpful both by phone and email. The mattress I purchased locally fit perfectly. No bad surprises.

Customer comments about Mackintosh Queen Low Footboard Bed:

I ordered the bunky board since I have a Tempur-pedic mattress, and I'm very pleased. I do not find it difficult to make the bed. I got the tall leg option since my home has 9 foot ceilings, and the proportions are terrific. After a year of use I started hearing squeaks and discovered it was the bed rubbing against the wall, not the bed itself. I pulled the bed back to its original position (half an inch from the wall) and the squeaks stopeed. The style of this bed goes with almost everything; I use it with a mix of modern, mission, and colonial furniture. Because my bedroom is on the second floor up a spiral staircase, I needed a platform bed that was easy to move but could still support the weight of a heavy mattress. This fit the bill admirably. The only care the bed frame needs is an occasional wipe with a slightly damp dust cloth. I can't comment on assembly because I used R&B's delivery and set up service, which was terrific.

Customer comments about Mackintosh Queen Low Footboard Bed:

Great product. Second metal bed frame I have purchased. Strong, easy to set up, and attractive.

        Service and delivery comments:

Service truck arrived at 1am during a terrible snowstorm -- the guy was great! He kept us informed the whole time and we said we would wait up. Once the bed arrived, we quickly set up the bed in time for my sister to sleep on it that night (she had also driven from Iowa through the storm earlier that day)!

This is the second metal bed I have purchased from Room and Board. Delivery service is always fabulous.

This bed is a bit difficult to tuck covers on bottom. I may purchase a board for that purpose. We have the pre-curser to this bed in our bedroom. Due to my husband's new job I needed to move to a different room to sleep. Every night I truly love to crawl into this bed.

Solid construction, durable finish. We ended up moving soon after we purchased this bed, and even after a move, the bed is still as solid as when it was first unpacked. The original delivery was easy, with competent assemblers.

We ended up putting a Slim console table at the end of the bed; they pair well.

Customer comments about Mackintosh Queen Low Footboard Bed:

I have read some of the comments about the bed being hard to make. I have a 2 inch bunky board under my mattress and it raises the mattress just enough so that I'm not having to contend with the steel frame while making the bed.

I love the height of the bed. It is built very solid and worth every penny. This bed is an heirloom that will be in my family for generations.

Now I need new nightstands, my current bedside tables were for a much lower bed. I think that a set of 28 inch nightstands will work perfectly.

                Service and delivery comments:

Delivery to the northern part of the delivery area (for the Seattle location) was exact to the minute. The crew worked expeditiously and diligently. I did not use customer service for anything.

I've been looking at bedroom furniture for a long time. Found the McIntosh headboard online, and drove to Orange County to see it. It took a while to arrive, due to the low footboard, but it was worth it. Solid construction, quiet, clean looking welds (nothing to snag, etc). I love that it is made in the US too!

This is the second of these beds I now own. They are simple in design, very classic. Fits in my Montana home perfectly. The dark finish is durable and I just have to vacuum or dust the horizontal pieces occassionally. Very sturdy, no squeaking. Easy to assemble and move if needed. I moved the first one I bought into the guest room by myself and put it back together by meself. Easy.
Looks great with traditional or modern linens. Love the room underneath for storage. All around terrific piece of furniture!

If you choose to add a box spring and mattress to the Mackintosh bed collection, the additional height of the box spring will alter the aesthetic of the bed since less of the headboard will be visible.

                      Q:

RE the Mackintosh Queen Low Footboard Bed:
Does this bed come as one unit, or is it in several sections to be assembled? (If it is the latter, are assembly instructions provided?) It would be easier for us to get it up the stairs if it were the latter.

Hi, I'm thinking of picking this bed up at your warehouse and I was wondering roughly how much each piece of the bed weighs (i.e. footboard, headboard, rails, slats)?

Is this a sleigh bed or does it fit straight against the wall? I wish there were a picture of the bed from the side or at an angle, without bedding.
